Not only is the Bogaerts deal NOT a steal, but it looks like a real overpay to me. As for the idea that Bogaerts would have done much better in FA, exactly what team would have been looking for a SS to the tune of more than 20MM/yr for more than 6 years? It is an absurd idea.

Bubba Starling? Dont know if it matters to you or not but Bubba isn’t his given name, just what he goes by, kind of like Coco Crisp.

Uh, Padres just signed a SS/3B for $30MM/yr for 10 years. So, yeah, going rate for elite young talent.
