Bring back the downvote.
Xavier Blaine
They took it out because a particular snowflake complained when their stupid comments were laughed at in the form of downvotes. Waaaaaah, I got downvoted, wahhhhh! Grow up. It’s the internet! I too say they should bring back the downvotes.
Cardinals17
I agree with brining back the down vote. Even though I’d get several myself. These are or own opinions. Throwing it out there to see who agrees and who disagrees.
Cat Mando
They took it out because of 25+/- comment threads among immature posters about nothing but downvotes. Tim has already said it will never return, thankfully. Now let it go.

Sounds like you’re the one crying like a little kid got their toy taken away. Maybe you should get your pasifier and go take a nap.

I think there was a class-action lawsuit against the traumas and triggerings that downvotes caused for some people (Xa B. Ial vs. MLBTR Inc.).
The next step will be to remove “likes” so all of the good posts can have their quality evenly shared with bad posts as well.
SalaryCapMyth
Seems the only people traumatized are the ones who want the dislike button back. I mean look up and down these comments? Who’s doing all the crying?
johnrealtime
Maybe you should boycott commenting to show your displeasure. That’ll show those “snowflakes”.
People need to get a life
chesteraarthur
Do people realize how dumb it sounds to tell others to, “get a life” when they are in the same comment section, commenting about those comments?
johnrealtime
I am telling those outraged about the lack of downviting to get a life. It is not the fact that they are commenting that I am referring to, it is what they seem to care about. It is obnoxious that it is still a thing
JJB
Not seeing any “outrage” in the suggested posts to bring them back. Can you elaborate? Maybe there was an angry emoji I missed.
Were you part of the above-mentioned lawsuit?
johnrealtime
You’re hilarious

The Natural isn’t a bad movie until they changed the ending. The ending in the book is perfect. The ending in the movie is preposterous.
macstruts
You’re right, the ending of the movie makes it a completely different story. Although I did enjoy A League of their Own and Major League, the special effects were horrible. Almost no one in either movie could play baseball.

What is the difference haven’t read the book but love the movie?
davidcoonce74
In the book he strikes out
zachgwest
If he strikes out then your right that’s total opposite lol
macstruts
It’s been awhile but the book was about the destructiveness of used by bad choices.
davidcoonce74
Yes; it’s a common Malamud theme – the clinging to a life gone wrong by poor choices and bad luck. He was a dour writer. I think the Natural looks pretty and there’s certainly elements of Malamud’s story intact, and Malamud himself loved the movie, which is odd because the ending so completely wrecks the arc of the story.
Jean Matrac
It’s not just the ending that’s different. The character of Roy Hobbes in the book is not at all like he is in the movie. Plus the tone of the book is very different from what it is in the movie. It’s like they took the character, and the basic plot, and told a different story when they made the film.

The Natural and Field of Dreams > the sandlot and a league of their own…. that’s from someone who wouldn’t ever quote Cher. I feel like that’s important.

At this point in the chat, I think “this guy must be Canadian. The only people who ever mention that band are Canadian.”

I have no problem having baseball in other countries… I would love to see Japan or Puerto Rico have a team. I don’t understand why faster travel hasn’t been invented yet.
afsooner02
It’s been invented….it’s just not cost efficient to the mass public.
Cat Mando
Have you forgotten the Concorde? 1,300+ MPH and a cost of (in 2018 dollars) $12,500 per person NYC to London.
davidcoonce74
Yeah, I guess the Concorde was massively inefficient – even at those ticket prices they struggled to make money, and then that horrific crash in the early 2000s kind of ended the company for good. Apparently even human flight has its limitation.. I would think, though MLB could put a team in Mexico City easily, although the elevation of Mexico City would make the game quite a bit different. If relations were ever normalized with Cuba, that would seem to be a perfect place to locate a team, since Cubans love baseball.
petrie000
Kind of hard to put a viable team in a city plagued by rampant poverty and one that the US government advises not traveling too. Makes it hard to imagine them having the money or ability to attract good players…
With Cuba it’s just the rampant poverty thing getting in the way.
chesteraarthur
People don’t like to be realistic, it’s much easier to just stick teams wherever you want.
GriffinGA
Braves lack of interest in putting a quality product on the field in the new stadium is troubling. sports.yahoo.com/braves-rolling-money-aren-t-16054…
Prospectnvstr
Lack of interest of putting up a quality team??? You are talking about the DEFENDING DIVISION CHAMPION Atlanta Braves, right?
