The Reds went out and traded for a pair of one-year-rental starters in Wood and Roark so they are clearly trying to contend in 2019. Realmuto does make that more likely so if you think it will work, trading for him makes sense regardless of whether or not they get an extension. If you don’t think it will work, trading for him doesn’t make sense even with an extension. He has no loyalty to the Reds and wants to play for a contender which the Reds have not been in 5 years. I don’t see him giving them any kind of discount.

Or tatis jr ?

Why can’t we choose both?? lol…But, I don’t see Tatis Jr. quite on the same level just yet..Which isn’t a knock on Tatis Jr., but Acuña, Soto, and Guerrero are all just a little ahead in my opinion..
Tatis has the tools, but for me, I want to see how he’s going to produce at the ML level first. I could say the same about Guerrero Jr., but for me his bat is superior to Tatis Jr.’s.

They are called prospects, not sure things. Tatis could be one of the best hitters in baseball.

Acuna and Soto aren’t prospects so I think they get the win at this point.

Agreed. Acuna and Soto have proven themselves at the highest level. Tatis and Guerrrero are just dreams, hopes, and projections at this point. There are so many guys that have raked all through the minors, but haven’t been able to put it together at the MLB level.
