It was a quiet day on the minor moves front, but there is one to catch up on …
- Lefty Daniel Schlereth has landed with the Red Sox on a minors deal, per Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com (via Twitter). He’ll have to earn his way into MLB camp, as the deal doesn’t include an invite. The 32-year-old Schlereth hasn’t seen the majors since 2012, but has kept at it over the intervening years. Mot recently, he appeared briefly last year with the Mariners organization. In parts of nine seasons at Triple-A, the former first-round pick carries a 3.50 ERA with 9.7 K/9 against 6.9 BB/9.
He’s still playing? Thought he gave it up years ago. Unless he suddenly found a new pitch, he’s going to get rocked!
Sorry, I dudn’t know where else to post this, for Red Sox
Are Red Sox re-signing Mike Olt?
Signed to MiLB pacts with Bosox past 2 years (AA-AAA)
Mike Olt? There’s a blast from the past for Rangers fans! Number 1 pick too.

This information about Mike Olt, is difficult to find
You don’t even maintain flow of the conversation
Not that difficult to find at all. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Olt.
Why do you care so much about mike Olt?
He/she doesn’t – they care about acknowledgement. Any kind they can get.
Guess there’s worse ways to spend your life than playing in the minors all your life. He must love the game.
They make more money than you in AAA bud
It’s quite possible that they don’t
Minor leaguers don’t make very much unless they have MLB service time, then it’s still just around 45k /year unless they negotiate higher. Minor leaguers who have never seen the majors make less than minimum wage, usually, sometimes as little as 8 thousand dollars for a season. Congress, through pressure from MLB, even passed the Save America’s Pastime Act in 2018 to ensure minor leaguers couldn’t unionize or make minimum wage, instead classifying them as “seasonal employees.” It’s a travesty that the MLBPA doesn’t fight more for minor leaguers.
yeah, and the lower level guys are often $1800ish a month and only during the season.
The minor league guys should be given at least some housing assistance and increases in wages.
My office mate played in minors. Explained human reason many don’t make it. Little money. Lots of travel. Bad food. Bad medical. Adds up for bad health, but masked by pure youth and raw talent most have. Get to upper minors and life discipline becomes most important factor for the jump to the show.
Agree David. MLB players want more perks for themselves, such as various chef’s in the club house than to do anything to help the cause of the minor league kids and they COULD help them out each and every negotiating period, yet refuse to do anything.
It’s all a negotiation. Owner’s gave the MiLB kids big raises and it would amount to nothing next bargaining period. Players still demand more. It’s give and take and requires BOTH sides to want to help them out.
For guys who have signed one MLB UPC the MiLB rate is ……..
2019—at the rate per season of $45,300;
2020—at the 2019 rate per season plus a cost of living adjustment,
rounded to the nearest $100, provided that the cost of living
adjustment shall not reduce the minimum salary below
$45,300;
2021—at the 2020 rate per season plus a cost of living adjustment,
rounded to the nearest $100, provided that the cost of living
adjustment shall not reduce the minimum salary below the
2020 rate per season.
For players who have signed more than one MLB UPC or “who
have at least one day of Major League service,” as Schlereth has the rate is….
2019—at the rate per season of $90,400;
2020—at the 2019 rate per season plus a cost of living
adjustment, rounded to the nearest $100, provided that the cost
of living adjustment shall not reduce the minimum salary
below $90,400;
2021—at the 2020 rate per season plus a cost of living
adjustment, rounded to the nearest $100, provided that the cost
of living adjustment shall not reduce the minimum salary
below the 2020 rate per season. Link to CBA…………..

ARTICLE VI—Salaries – A. Minimum Salary (2)
Yeah, in short-season it’s as little as 1150/month. Using a 40 hour workweek, that’s 7.50/hour – and minor leaguers work way more than 40 hours/week.
He’s doing what he loves and is at the AAA level, that’s not bad at all.
Any relation to Mark?
It’s his son.
Not the fooseball guy tht talks about making goals in the hoop. I’m talking about the actor. I should have clarified.
It’s the ex football player and commentator’s son.
There is an actor name Mark Schlereth?
Wow… that’s a lot of walks…
This guy is a super long shot. He has not pitch much in the lastfive years.
Long shot? Yes. So was Rich Hill. Red Sox looking for a repeat maybe.
DD trying to resurrect success on one his bad trades.
The ERA & Ks per 9 aren’t too bad…the issue seems the BB per 9!? If he found a way to maintain control as a former first rounder he could be the years Brazier! But at 32…my advise is do it now!
