So Machado really wants to play for the NYY? … but left town without a signed contract … hmmmm
MetsYankeesRedSox
I hope they don’t sign him but I can’t see the Yanks passing on both him or Harper. They’re gonna grab one of them.
bravesfan
Here’s my question: braves gonna step up and do something about their pitching? Mainly that bullpen? Where is the answer in RF? Not making moves in the market and you DFA’d on best option in the minors that was close enough to major league ready.
samthebravesfan
Ricardo Sanchez or Adam McCreery?
MetsYankeesRedSox
Is Sanchez the same guy from Earth Dimension C-137?
bravesfan
Peterson
Knowthemarket
I agree. The Braves need to hurry. The season is starting tomorrow!!!
bravesfan
The more time that goes by, the less options we’ll have and the less good talent left on the board driving up prices

In all the interviews I’ve seen, AA has said he’s still exploring trades, and he’s still in talks with some of the remaining free agents gauging their asking prices.
So far, he’s said that he hasn’t been able to find a deal to his liking. He said that teams are still demanding too much for their players, and he wants to wait out free agency a little longer to find a deal more to his liking..
Basically meaning, he’s looking, but free agents are still aiming too high, and so are the GMs of the players they want to acquire via trade.
AA loves to keep everything close to the vest, so we probably won’t hear much until a deal is just about finalized. Yeah, it sucks, but it is what it is..
As far as rumors floating around..I haven’t heard them connected to any bullpen arms, but they’ve had recent talks with Pollack, and they have had exploratory talks with the Tigers (about Castellanos), the Indians (probably for Kluber), the Rangers (don’t know who), the Marlins (clearly Realmuto), and that’s all I’ve read recently…Hope this all helps, but probably not..lol
As far as their bullpen goes, I really wouldn’t be too worried. Their main arms wore down last year, but they should come back healthier and ready to pitch longer into the season. This is the case especially because they will have more quality arms to rotate around in the pen.
Right now, as currently constructed, the Braves will have: Vizcaino, Minter, Winkler, Biddle, Carle, Venters, Sobotka, O’Day, Jackson, Dayton, Freeman, Webb, and they could also possibly use the likes of Allard, Parsons, Weigel, Fried, Wilson, or Gohara as longmen out of the bullpen..That really may be the case with Weigel, especially later on in the season, when he comes close to his innings limit since he’s coming back from TJS. That could prove to provide the Braves with an extra bonus down the road, because Weigel should have no trouble hitting 98-100 out of the pen, and his FB has excellent movement. So, like I said, he could end up being a big bonus sometime past the trade deadline..
In the meantime, the Braves should be okay. Personally, I think they should make a run after Kimbrel, to add more versatility and flexibility to their pen, but from how it sounds, Kimbrel has currently priced himself out of the Braves price range..That is unfortunate too, because I’d love to see Freeman, Big Mac, and Kimbrel all back together for another playoff run..

Tulo? AA signed him. Why not take the flier now, despite the fact that Tulo is physically unavailable until mid-2020. Thoughts?
bravesfan
I actually like use getting Tulo but strictly as a bench piece, which he won’t go for. He’s cheap and a good veteran to have
Cardinals17
If the past repeats itself, as it would seem to this point, the Cardinals have made their only big splash. 2 winters ago…Fowler and then dud relievers of which most are gone and Fowler has turned foul. Last winter….Marcel Ozuna instead of Yelich, then dud relievers of whom are either gone or on the DL. This winter … Paul Goldschmidt. Then dead silence. Just as last season until only the mediocre and wishful thinking players were the only ones left. That’s John Mozeliak’s style. Make a big splash before season ticket sales. Then nothing else to fill the other hole after the season tickets are sold.
brewcrewer
To be fair I think everyone was higher on ozuna than yelich last year
PhanaticDuck26
you guys see Eric Byrnes on MLB doing his “pitch” to Machado to play in Philly? Carlos Pena had a pretty good pitch on behalf of the Yankees, but Byrnes’ was absolutely horrible and he just kinda gave up. As a Phillies fan, I really hope Machado wasn’t watching that haha

Mets sign Martin Gonzalez and Tony Sipp!
PLEASE
MetsYankeesRedSox
They both free agents?

DAMN SPELL CHECK
jb19
Damn, just reading through the transcript and saw that last trade scenario for Danny Duffy. No way should the Astros trade for him at that cost.
astrosfan4life
I agree, that’s a drastic overpay. No way Luhnow would do that.
Priggs89
Yah, 3 years of control is great when you’re trading for a high-end pitcher, but Danny Duffy is pretty mediocre. Severely overrating the amount of control he has if you think he brings a player like Tucker back.
jb19
I agree. Duffy is probably a little better than mediocre, but the Astros traded for Cole last year for much less than what was proposed for Duffy. Even if Cole had one less year of control, he’s still a better pitcher with better stuff and pedigree.
bravesiowafan
Still not sure how Adam Duvall can be considered an over pay. He had a bad season dude hits dingers and has great defense still serviceable MLB player even with splits and not showing much after being traded. We gave up left over pieces for him and he still has cheap team control for 3 years still sounds like upside to me
RunDMC
We got back Preston Tucker when he was released – so we lost Wisler and Sims. The true rejoicing should be freeing up those spots and moving on from those 2. Wish we could have included Jason Hursh and Braxton Davidson to end Wren’s draft disappointments altogether.
Samuel
The Twins have spent years drafting and trading for SS prospects. So far, not much to show for it. (They were going to use an excess guy at 2B…..but now they’re searching for a 2B.)
Their new obsession is with 1B’s / DH’s. They’re always considering using Miguel Sano that way. They traded for Tyler Austin, and gave him a whole 136 PA’s. Next they picked up C.J. Cron. Before he even suits up for them, they’re supposed to lay out big bucks for 89 year-old’s Nelson Cruz and/or Edwin Encarnacion.
lol
Might I suggest that they fill out the roster…….especially pitching……especially starting pitching.
