Chances Goldy signs extension with STL
Does weaver and Kelly outplay the years Goldy gives to STL if they go deep in Playoffs. NLCS???
c1234
I think it depends on how he likes his first season in STL. I hope they extend him, than I would be fine not getting Harper.
RedRooster
If Goldy had any chance of signing an extension the Diamondbacks wouldn’t have dared trade him.
mitchladd
He’s 31, doesn’t have a ring, and they’re just now starting a rebuild. They have no chance of extending him. The Cards are stacked with pitching talent and built to contend for the foreseeable future. Plus, they have money to do it.
RedRooster
Goldy is (or was) AZ’s face of the franchise. If he had a figure in mind that he was reasonably worth, they’d pay it. Why would he extend with some team he has no loyalty to over a team that drafted and developed him, that he has been with for 9 years and is adored by fans?
cubsfan2489
Because money talks and the Cardinals won’t suck like AZ, genius.
RedRooster
Again, the Diamondbacks would pay him whatever he wanted. Teams don’t just let their face of the franchise walk away. And Hazen is a good GM. He didn’t inherit the best situation but I think AZ will turn out just fine.
… GENIUS!
rocknwell
Well he either signs or he doesn’t. I doubt Kelly and Weaver will be anything super special. But i’d be pleasantly surprised if they do become stars
mitchladd
No, you hit Gordon 9th not 1st. His OBP is way too terrible for lead off, but you’d still have them stacked like that later in the game.
biasisrelitive
If Gordon doesn’t have the obp to lead off nither dose Hamilton
Ejemp2006
Gordon’s speed will probably start to seriously decline this year and make him a very bad player. Lead off? Batting ninth? More like riding pine and then DFA in 19 off season or 20 spring.

Dee Gordon is well on his way to becoming Chone Figgins. The Mariners need to dump him now.
restingmitchface
Actually, Dee could be a great buy-low candidate. Lots of chatter that his broken toe zapped him last season.

5:38 If the Phillies call the D-Backs and say we will take Grienke off your hands with Robbie Ray what would the Phils have to give up? Efflin? Medina?
Jason Martinez
5:39 Sounds about right. Phillies are one of a handful of teams that could probably take on a majority of Greinke’s contract.
um….yea….LOVE this idea 100%…but Philly is on Greinke’s no-trade list, hard to say if he’d be interested in waiving it. Even without Greinke, then, I wanna see what the DBacks want for Ray; he and Nola would form a pretty nice 1-2 punch for the next few years
