Were you one of the 6,845 people who entered in MLBTR’s Free Agent Prediction Contest back in November? If so, you’ll want to check out our new contest leaderboard. With 21 of the top 50 free agents signed, 11 people are tied with a .286 batting average (six correct predictions). Of those, Kris Freel currently wears the crown with correct picks on Nathan Eovaldi, J.A. Happ, Josh Donaldson, Jeurys Familia, Andrew Miller, and Joe Kelly. MLBTR writer Ty Bradley is one of about 100 people with five correct, leading our website staff.
To find out how you’re doing, simply type your name into the search box. You can also click anyone’s name to see the picks they made, and try the “Staff Only” button to see how the seven participating MLBTR writers are doing.

“My goodness, it’s a shame I forgot to enter. I’ve gotten all 21 of them right so far.”
-No One, Ever
-Including Me
bestno5
But 19 out of 21 would still give you the lead
thebighurt619
10 would be enough lol.
HubcapDiamondStarHalo
I’m pretty much still waiting to knock that zero off my board! (laughing)
WhiteSox4ever
I have 5 correct, do in any cash

Forgot what I registered under……LOL.
Thought it should simply be my screen name here.
bighiggy
I think it’s your real name they asked for. I’m coming in at a whopping .095 average lol. Almost dexter Fowler numbers.
dray16
Same average for me, Lance Lynn & Nelson Cruz correct.
54scooterb
Happ & Ramos here.
RedFeather
Side contest now that we have a little more info:
1.. Where will Machdo land now?
2. Where will Harper land now?
1. Yankees
2. Dodgers
thebighurt619
Phillies dealing Santana acquiring segura I think they sign both machado and Harper.
Hoskins going back to 1st makes room for an impact bat in the OF to pair with mccutchen and maybe philly puts segura at 3rd machado at ss
They’re clearing going for it. So I expect some big moves to finish the off season, even if they don’t sign either.
RedFeather
Both to the Phillies huh? I think the Phillies are starting to piece a good team together however I feel like they are going to wait to make a huge splash with Trout when he is available.
thebighurt619
The NL is definitely weaker at this point. Only teams thats made huge improvements are the nationals grabbing Corbin and gomes/Suzuki and the Phillies grabbing segura and mccutchen.
Idk what the braves are doing in the OF and catcher or the Mets are doing at 3b ss or 1b.
Dodgers have questions with health of their rotation and questions with their pen and catcher and outfield
Cubs brewers cardinals all have questions but of different issues.
Signing machado and Harper plus dealing some prospects to acquire someone like Kluber or own help i think makes them a clear ws contender for 2019 and beyond.
Senioreditor
I’m guessing the Dodgers sign Harper and trade for Realmuto.
ExileInLA 2
I’m guessing the Mets are sticking with Amed Rosario at SS and waiting for Peter Alonso at 1B…why would they do anything else?
oldleftylong
Trout to Philly in 2020. Dilly, dilly.
petfoodfella
Braves are waiting for OF. They only need 1. Prob hoping they can get the price down a bit on they’re preferred, if not, Markakis is a safe bet on a decent salary.
Catcher is pretty setup, McCann and Flowers unless they trade for JTR. That’s pretty much set.
Their biggest holes are RP. They could use a top shelf starter, but it’s not a desperate need for them, unlike the bullpen help.
I”d love to see them go after Cody Allen, Britton and 1 more mid-level relief arm.
RedFeather
Cardinals got Goldy for nothing and signed Andrew Miller. I’d say that’s a solid offseason so far. Especially if they more.
PhilsPhan
I’m a huge Phillies fan, but I think I don’t think we sign either of them. I don’t think either of them wants to come here, which is concerning.
Jerry Wyatt
You think..
Perksy
I would love for the Phillies to sign both so we don’t have to hear about them anymore.
spot45
1, Chisox
2.. Phils
MetsYankeesRedSox

MAKE IT HAPPEN CASHMAN!!

JKB 2
Well it has 6,845 other people so I guess its real.
MetsYankeesRedSox
6845 accounts
With all the burner accounts it’s more like maybe 500 actual people.
jd396
I’m sure they deleted just you, out of malice.
luclusciano
Maybe, just possibly, you did not register. Perhaps?
Syndergaarden Cop
What’s the tie breaker for why Freel is in 1st since 11 are tied with 6 correct picks?
BlueJayFan1515
I think it was something about where they were ranked in top 50, wasn’t it? So if you got people that were high on the list you placed above those that were right on lower tier free agents.
Cat Mando
Syndergaarden Cop………..
“Ties in the correct number of picks will be broken by summing up the rankings of the free agents of the correct picks and taking the lower total. For example: Tim and Steve each get two picks correct. Tim gets Bryce Harper (#1 ranking) and Adam Ottavino (#20 ranking) for a total of 21 points. Steve gets Yasmani Grandal (#6) and Charlie Morton (#14) for a total of 20 points. Steve’s total is lower and he’s ahead of Tim for tiebreaker purposes.”

Still many, many more free agents to go…

Paul Heyman
I didn’t submit mine but I think I have 1 or 2 right.
thetruth 2
I’m satisfied. I’m doing better than I thought I would, based on how things were going.
dust44
I’m like Greg Bird right now. Big swing and a miss so far
jgoody62
Hey Tim! Any chance the winner becomes part of the MLBTR team? I’m currently ranked 3rd and would love an opportunity!
canadianyankee
Harper and Machado both to the Yankees is my prediction (hope)…I will also predict that if NYY don’t get Harper they’ll be big players in the Trout sweepstakes…I expect that they will definitely land Machado…if neither big fish sign in the Bronx this offseason I’d wager my house that Trout is a Yankee when his FA time comes
baseballislife22
Machado will definitely go to the Yankees. My guess is Harper will go to the cubs or the phils
MetsYankeesRedSox
YANKEES!
daved
Is there money involved? If not, why would anyone enter a contest like this?

I believe the winner gets $500.

You know you can’t predict baseball ask Jon Sterling!
MetsYankeesRedSox
Heard him say it enough.
Too bad someone doesn’t tell Suzyn Waldman there’s no crying in baseball.
Beldar J. Conehead
I’d like to predict that whoever signs Harper and Machado will be crying in their beer in five years.
troll
where’s daved and that xab whatever?
daved
Hey “troll”, I’m right here. What do you want?
gvasios
If you can get about 16 right, roughly a third, you’ll probably win the contest.
amandafafi
Shut up
Hubcap
MetsYankeesRedSox
You’re dirty sweet and you’re my girl!
pickandersen
This contest is similar to batting in baseball. Hear me out. The first place person has a .318 average, which would be close to the best batting average in baseball. Reminds me of Ted Williams quote: “Baseball is the only field where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer.” Just like this contest — a .318 average is the best.
hiflew
I was thrilled when I got the very first one, Kurt Suzuki, correct when so many messed him up. Then, I was incorrect on the next 20. Then I got Kikuchi correct. Probably not going to win, but at least I got to crooked numbers.
jd396
Kikuchi got me on the board!!
luclusciano
Me too!!
MetsYankeesRedSox
Ok….it’s the New Year.
Make the announcement Manny.
dray16
Only 49 players show up in the results. Derek Holland does not appear even though he was part of the contest.
