“With zaidi possibly taking over. Do the giants try to contend or rebuild a little (trade belt, Crawford, or anyone not named bumgardner/Posey)?”
If they rebuild at all, Bumgarner gets traded. He’s only a year out from free agency.
RedRooster
Two years of Profar over five years of Renfroe? Dunno bout that!
SDHotDawg
Have to agree with that 100%
Steve Adams doesn’t know about the Pads.

It’s not about the years. Profar is the better player right now and Renfroe has had one good half. Like he said, it’s about an even trade at this point.
RedRooster
Profar hasn’t been good any longer than Renfroe has. bWAR and fWAR disagree on who was better in 2018 so if they had the same amount of club control it would prboably be about even. But when we factor in years of control, it isn’t even a competition. We can’t just pretend that years of control don’t have an effect on a guy’s trade value. Especially for a rebuilding team like SD.
SDHotDawg
It’s not even close to an even trade. And. FYI, Renfroe had one “bad” half while playing through a pretty severe elbow injury and trying to comply with Matt Stairs changes to his swing. All in his sophomore season.
Renfroe, IMO, is going to be a consistent .250/30hr a year guy for a long time. You can keep Profar.
RedRooster
Last year he picked the Padres and Phillies as the teams that will go the longest before the next time they make the postseason. I have a hard time imagining the Reds or Orioles getting there first. Or even the Giants in their own division.

Lol @ whoever argued 30% chance of White Sox signing one of those two guys. If Everything is equal each team would have about a 4% chance of signing each guy, so be generous and say an 8% chance of signing one of the two. What in the world about the White Sox makes someone think they are in a position to be 4x more likely than the field to sign one of those guys
SDHotDawg
Who was the last big FA the ChiSox signed? I know they’ve let a few stars get away over the years, but I can’t recall any they signed.

Albert Belle, end of 1996. Highest-paid player in MLB at that time.
IOW, it’s been a while…..
