Will there be a free agent prediction contest??
JJB
No, Tim said maybe next year.
Lou: “Will there be a Top 50 Free Agent Predictions Contest this year?”
Steve Adams: *rambled something since he was 3 questions behind with his WebTV connection*
Tim Dierkes: “Unfortunately I have failed to get that contest back off the ground for this winter. I will try harder for next winter.”

If Jim Palmer made current money, there is no way he still does underwear ads.
ABCD
You think so? The man is way in love with himself.
truthlemonade
Is Palmer the handsomest Hall of Famer? Maybe until Jeter gets in. Palmer is from New York City, I wonder if he ever thought, “Man, if only I played for the Yankees.”
Cat Mando
He would have 1 fewer WS ring
ABCD
Fisk, Clemente, Koufax, Billy Williams — all better looking than Jeter.

Whoever downvoted this can please tell us who you think is the most handsome member of the baseball Hall of Fame. We are ALL waiting for your response.

I don’t check out guys

I always thought Billy Williams and Sandy Koufax had a certain resemblance between them. Yeah, Roberto Clemente was a handsome man. Carlton Fisk looks exactly like Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour. And drummer Nick Mason would call him their “Glamour Boy” who looked great in all of their photos. I think a lot of women would not mind it if Andy Pettitte made the Hall of Fame.
All I can say is that every girl I have dated was significantly less of a baseball fan than I am, and significantly more of a Derek Jeter fan than I am.
lesterdnightfly
Michael Jordan made more money than Palmer, but still did underwear ads.
Modeling skivvies is a lot easier than being hammered by Bill Laimbeer in the paint or pitching for Earl Weaver.

This comment section is really giving me pause about reading this chat..lol..
Seriously, the best looking Hall of Famer??…Is that what we’ve been reduced to with a lack of drama and reports??
…Good lord, I’d certainly hate to see what the conversation is going to look like if baseball has another slow off-season like the last one..lol
Why don’t we just go ahead, spare us all, and announce the players with the sexiest hair and facial hair combo, the most attractive player out of their uniform, and best all-time man-bun?? C’Mon guys, the world needs to know!!
I know testosterone for men is at an all-time low, but really?? Haha..

And why not add that you’re not giving the ball back, and everyone should get off your lawn. I mean, I’m old as dirt, but you make me seem like a young woke hipster.

Can there be a separate chat about Harper and Machado? I’m already tired of hearing those names. It’s going to be a long, long offseason.
Also need a separate chat for Braves fans. 10% of chat dedicated to Atlanta questions.

Apparently some people get their feelings hurt because the host doesn’t answer their questions .I’ve been joining chats for years, I ask at least 2-3 questions, sometimes more when I do, and I’ve had only a few answered. You need to be lucky, and ask a good question that appeals to the host at that particular time. Not sure why some feel they are owed an answer in a FREE chat.

I usually don’t submit any questions. I enjoy reading what fans of all teams have to say, most of the time. I have followed this site for many years and respect the writers and their opinions greatly. There’s been too many repeated questions about Harper and Machado. Also too many Braves questions of late.

Not to beat a dead horse here, but how are we answering so many questions about the White Sox and Braves and silly questions about Halloween candy, when the Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Astros, etc. just finished a great playoffs and all have serious questions this off-season. I know there were a lot of complaints years ago about the constant coverage of the Yankees and Red Sox when they weren’t anything special to talk about, but the Yankees have one of the best young systems in the game with pieces to move for guys like Kluber and money to spend for guys like Machado. Will they make their move this year and should they? How do the Red Sox sustain this run of success with their depleted system and numerous pending free agents? What do the front office changes mean for the Dodgers? What do the Astros need to do to get back to the World Series? Let’s get to some more heavy hitting questions then should the Braves and Cubs swap shortstops.
This is not unique to Jeff. You all do a fantastic job and I especially look forward to Jeff’s chats because he gives some very thorough answers. But MLB Network Radio has much gone the same route of avoiding the major market teams in favor of trying to involve everyone and I think it’s a good thing but it’s gotten a little imbalanced the other way now in my humble opinion. It’s a Red Sox fan asking for Yankees coverage so you know it’s gotten light. There also just may not be much to report, but I do enjoy your guys opinion pieces and answers. You have some great insights.
Just my 2 cents which isn’t worth much!
JJB
Jeff, you should tell Tim to have an optional “pay” feature of the site, similar to ESPN Insider for a few dollars per month. Nobody would obviously have to pay to read the articles about Joe Schmoe signing a minor league contract with the Padres, but these VIPs would get priority chat questions before the masses, while the rest of the poor non-supporters could spam about Halloween or less-important topics. There could even be a subscriber/VIP only chat, as well as subscriber articles from MLB/MiLB players (the Tim Dillard, Alex Meyer, Burke Badenhop type of articles) could be included for the VIP supporters, and so on.
Mattimeo09
That seems like a bad idea. If 200 people buy priority questions, but Steve only gets to 70 questions, there’s going to be a lot of people complaining that they paid money for nothing.
Not to mention the fact that the appeal of getting a question answered is why most people send in so many questions. If a Joe Shmoe can’t expect a response without paying, they will stop trying to participate and try to find alternatives. MLBTR will lose readers and provide an opportunity for a competitor to gain relevance.
