The Brewers have settled on a 2019 salary with infielder Hernan Perez, per Jon Heyman of Fancred (via Twitter). He’ll earn $2.5MM, just a bit under the $2.7MM that MLBTR and contributor Matt Swartz had projected.

This dude is a great video game/fantasy bench player. Not sure he’s quite as useful in real life.

I’m surprised they didn’t non tender Herman.
augold5
Why would they?
ThatBallwasBryzzoed
Hes not very good.
stevewpants
He’s Ben Zobrist without the name recognition and plate discipline. Still pretty valuable. And more so in real life than video games as our first commentor suggested.

3.0 career WAR, most of which came in 2016. Pretty meh.
stevewpants
War doesn’t capture the flexibility he gives to Counsell, you can put him at almost any position on the field, granted that is far more important in the national league with double switches and so forth, but something to keep in mind. And at 2.5 million for a payroll like the brewers he is worth it. You guys cant expect everybody to have all stars filling utility spots.
ThatBallwasBryzzoed
Ben Zobrist is 100x the player he ever will be.
stevewpants
100 times the player? Save the hyperbole for when your boy Bryce dupes somebody into overpaying him by hundreds of millions.
nubbz18
Bryce Harper will not “dupe” anybody into anything. He’s a fantastic player who needs to work on his plate discipline.
ThatBallwasBryzzoed
I’ll take Schwarber almora/happ and Heyward left to right over overpaying Harper. I dont care how close him and kris Bryant are. They are good friends. They’re wives are friends. They went to each others weddings. That doesnt mesn they would have great chemistry in the same lineup other than the all star game.
I hope Harper trolls everyone and goes to the blue Jays or Marlins or reds. On a 3 year deal for $100mil
With an opt out after the first year.
Then gets 380 mil over 10 years with 4 opt outs. The 4th one would only kick in if he wins an mvp at least once in the first 5 years.

So Zobrist should get $250 million per year then?
dray16
He should, but won’t
gregsrothu
Seems like a little bit of an exaggeration

you missed a “more to come” here and there with Avi, Jeffery.. you can finish it. I know you can.
