Steve, I’ve read rumors that Tim Dierkes is going to put you on the trading block this winter due to Jeff Todd’s emergence. Would you waive your no-trade clause to go to Bleacher Report? Deadspin?

On one hand, I agree about small sample postseason hurting a player’s value, but on the other hand, now I see Eovaldi getting $100M from someone.

Idk, after Murphy had his ridiculously amazing post-season run, everyone was talking about him getting overpaid in free agency, yet he was “only” able to get a 3 year, $37.5 mil contract. Which, actually turned out to be a pretty solid bargain for the Nationals..
At the time, Murphy had some question marks about his defense, and his ability to continue his previous success offensively. Besides that, it seemed like everyone was so afraid of overpaying him, it ended up allowing the Gnats to get him for a good price..
I’m just wondering if the same thing is going to happen to Eovaldi. He has some health concerns, and there will be teams that will wonder whether or not he’s able to sustain the success he had this season..With these queations hovering over Eovaldi, might that be enough for a team to sign him for a modest deal, like Murphy??
The one thing going for Eovaldi is the fact he’s a pitcher, and teams will always pony up the big bucks for quality pitching..
Either way, it’ll certainly be interesting to see where he ends up, and what kind of deal Eovaldi ends up signing..I, personally, thought he would be the steal of the trade deadline, and depending on the cost, he very well could be the steal of free agency..I guess only time will tell the tale..

“And again — corner OFs are among the easiest assets to acquire on the market without paying a huge premium.”
Bryce Harper: Absolutely right Steve. I’m willing to sign for under a $1BB.
