An awful lot of people participating in these chats seem to be overly-sensitive jerks.
Unless Jeff just likes to highlight those few questioners.
Cat Mando
If this was a poll I would go with “A” …… overly-sensitive jerks.

Many believe they are rhatma ghandi and the orators just don’t recognize their greatness. Reality is there are 1000’s or participants and even more questions. The angry douche bag is closer to Jeffery dommer in life
Jeff Todd
I just answer questions as I see them … sometimes I find cause to respond to those that are angry. Whether or not they are serious, it’s hard to know. Vast majority of questions are just good old fashioned baseball questions. I don’t mean to highlight anyone, really, I just sometimes like to grab a few ?s that aren’t strictly baseball-focused, whether they are about me, the site, the chat, etc.

DeepDish- To answer your question one of the as trades that In familiar with is the Braves-Padres deal, where the Braves sent the bad contract of BJ Upton along with Kimbrel, a cost-controlled, young closer….
There’s more than likely a more recent example, but since one wasn’t given in the chat, I figured I’d at least add that one..

The Dbacks also packaged Arroyo and Toussaint to the Braves for cash relief.
Didn’t the Dodgers take on salary from teams to get their compensatory picks a few years ago? I know it is not specific players packaged with another high salary player, but it is the same general idea.
Jeff Todd
This sort of trade is not entirely uncommon. The Padres have eaten a few bad contracts of late (Phil Hughes, Chase Headley) for instance.
I honestly didn’t even notice that part of the question during the chat. The reason I answered it, really, was that the questioner suggested he/she had read someone suggesting Suarez could be moved in such a deal.
That, to me, is baseless. In theory, the Reds could do something to shed the Bailey money, but if you follow what their FO/ownership has said, I think it’s clear they won’t be dumping quality MLB players – let alone Suarez – to do so.
bravesfan88
Yeah, there’s no way they dump Suarez solely just to get rid of really their only bad contract..Especially when they aren’t exactly strapped for cash, nor looking to spend anything significant..
If they were to trade Suarez, in my opinion, it would be to acquire some promising, near ML-ready pitching prospects…
Other then that, I honestly wouldn’t see any scenario the Reds would get rid of Suarez. He’s an excellent, quality asset for them right now. No reason to get rid of him, unless some contender comes along with a package of young talent they can’t refuse..

Some people interpret criticism of their team, no matter what it is, as unfair or as bias based on dislike. Every contributor on MLBTR does way more research than I do. Even so, I don’t always agree, but even the the contributors don’t always agree, and none ever offer their opinions as facts. People just need to understand what this site is all about, understand where those running it are coming from, and enjoy it for what it is. I am a fan (even though Steve hates my favorite team).

People just rant and rave because they lack patience…Myself personally, I ask about an average of 5 questions per chat, usually relating to Braves prospects, Acuña Jr., Albies, or asking about what their starting 5 will look like next season…Never once have I ever had a single question answered, but so what!?!….
There’s countless questions that don’t get answered, it’s just the nature of the beast…Regardless, the fact people take it personally when their questions are not answered is just comical..
People have zero patience these days, especially online, where they can seemingly let out their frustrations hidden behind a screen, without any fear of consequences or getting the taste slapped out of their mouth, like they would in person..lol..
Just be lucky these writers are giving us an outlet to ask them questions..Keep waiting patiently, don’t ask stupid questions, and maybe then eventually you’ll get one answered..
If anything, it should only make it that much more special when you do..haha
