The Twins announced that they’ve selected the contract of infielder Gregorio Petit. In a corresponding move, the club transferred injured first baseman Logan Morrison to the 60-day disabled list.
Petit, 33, didn’t put up great numbers this season in Rochester, where he hit .268/.313/.327 with one home run over 312 PAs. He was somewhat more productive n a limited Twins stint earlier this year, with a .308/.400/.308 showing in 30 trips to the plate.
Over parts of six seasons in the majors, Petit carries a .253/.298/.350 slash in 456 plate appearances. His chief appeal lies in his defensive versatility. In that limited MLB action, Petit has appeared everywhere on the field except for behind the dish, on the mound, and in center field while spending most of his time as a middle-infielder.
Fuck Me Bitch
The Twins disgust me.

I cannot count how many times the Twins’ general management has made moves like this that make no sense. In the short or long run what is this??

Fill a roster spot while avoiding service time for anyone who matters.

Other than giving another minor league lifer one more shot, what’s the point? The part of me that cheers for the underdog is happy for Petit, however.

Does this really matter? It’s not like the Twins are going anywhere this year. And why not keep the younger guys down in the minors right now. What real purpose does it serve to bring them up? In this instance, Petit is mainly an infielder…are they going to bring up Nick Gordon so he can lose even more confidence? A .205 BA at AAA shows that he needs more seasoning before coming up.. Falvine is just giving Petit a chance to showcase himself some more for the chance on a contract with someone next year.

Did you watch Gordon play at all? I watched several games and he caught lots of bad breaks. Great defensive plays. Or when he did barrel one up it was directly at a defender. Not making excuses but his at bats were much better than the average shows.

The only time I have been able to watch Nick Gordon was during Spring Training games. And he looked good there, but 99 games and 400+ at bats of bad luck? Not buying it. I think he will turn into a very good player for the Twins, just not yet.

The Twins are not eliminated yet. Always believe
