Sorry Jeff, I won’t make it today. I got there early and the line was around the block due to your popularity! Maybe next time.

Jeff, that one question you answered from me, was on my birthday. Thank you for that.
(It was in the summer, + used a diff screen name, so I think I minimize my chances of identity theft to tell you lol)

Did someone seriously ask this in the chat: Any chance the Nats catch up to the Braves?
I mean, sure, they aren’t eliminated yet, but its only a formality until they are. Nats have a better chance of catching the Phillies than the Braves
tharrie0820
Nays have a better chance of catching up to a team only half a game ahead of them? you don’t say!
bhamredsfan
Jeff, Braves finished 19 under .500 and the Phils 30 under. Go Reds!
Jeff Todd
That doesn’t necessarily mean the Reds will do the same, surely. But we shall see. Offseason moves will matter, of course.

Jeff is criminally underrating Acunas plate discipline
Jeff Todd
Because I said Soto’s is otherworldly? Why do you feel the need to misrepresent what I wrote?
I actually was looking at this the other day. Acuna is on something approaching the same track that Trout was through the minors and into the majors (with a bit more K% but the league mean is also higher). I don’t doubt that he could follow Trout in improving in this area over time. And it’s fine as is … that he doesn’t draw a ton of walks is obviously not stopping him from posting huge numbers, so he’s amply justified in prioritizing hard contact even if he’s capable already of taking more free passes if he wanted to.
But Soto is already elite. Despite just 512 minor-league PAs before reaching the majors and being nearly a year younger than Acuna. He’s drawing more walks than anybody with a reasonable number of PAs not named Trout, Harper, or Votto. That’s ridiculous.
It is a unique attribute of his, and pointing that out does not say anything at all about Acuna’s plate discipline, except that it is not as worthy of ogling, which (based upon all the evidence we have) it is not.
tharrie0820
More of the fact that you think it will be a close race when that is literally the only thing Soto does better than Acuna
tharrie0820
Power? advantage Acuna. Defense? Advantage Acuna. Speed? Advantage Acuna
Jeff Todd
This is utterly inane, even by internet standards.
– I only mentioned plate discipline in regard to their future outlook as hitters, not as a direct factor in the race, except as reflected in actual results. In fact, I went out of the way to specifically say I don’t think underlying skill, so much as actual results, should drive these awards.
– Thank you for informing me of Acuna’s attributes. Did I not acknowledge them when I wrote, in the chat, “Acuna does more elsewhere” [i.e., aside from as a hitter].
– As stated, as hitters, they have been near equals in productivity. Acuna does have an edge in power but Soto has a ludicrous .420 OBP.
– I said I lean Acuna, but wouldn’t dispute anyone preferring one to the other. You really think that’s a ludicrous position to take when responding in 30 seconds to a chat question? Right now, Acuna has 3.8 fWAR, Soto 3.5. Whatever. Both of these young players are incredible. There are 2 weeks left, as well.

Thank you for putting this homer in his place Jeff

Francesa is a joke. Guy berates everyone who calls in, its literally a joke and he’s laughing all the way to the retirement bank and back out and back in again
Cat Mando
Only time I saw or listened to him was when A-Rod faked storming out of his Biogenesis hearing and ran to the comfort of Francesa’s radio booth. I thought Francesa was going to genuflect and kiss A-Rod’s…………………………………………ring.

I couldn’t agee more. I’m more of a Kay fan, but my personal favorite radio personality is Larry Hardesty.
Only thing despise about Kay is when he goes on a political rant. Thankfully, doesn’t happen much. (For all we know could be mandated by his ESPN employers lol)
I dont listen to WFAN a lot but I like Steve “The Schmoozer” Somers. Humble guy.
