The Cardinals announced that they’ve selected third baseman Patrick Wisdom’s contract from Triple-A Memphis. He’ll take the place of infielder Yairo Munoz on the Cardinals’ 25-man roster. Munoz landed on the 10-day disabled list with a right wrist sprain. To make room for Wisdom on its 40-man roster, St. Louis transferred reliever Luke Gregerson to the 60-day DL.
The 26-year-old Wisdom, whom the Cardinals chose in the first round (No. 52) of the 2012 draft, is finally in position to make his major league debut. Wisdom had been among the Redbirds’ top prospects in the few seasons after they drafted him, but his production and stock fell as he climbed the minor league ranks. To Wisdom’s credit, though, he mashed 31 home runs at Triple-A last season and returned this year to hit a solid .289/.363/.479 (119 wRC+) with 14 HRs in 405 trips to the plate en route to his first MLB promotion.

To counter Wisdom’s call up, the Cubs selected the contract of Dorky McShortbus. McShortbus has appeared in 36 games at AA. To his credit, he has not mistaken his bat for a glove at all in 2018. Tennessee Smokies manager gave McShortbus lots of praise, saying ‘Thank God he’s been called up!’

Does he have all his teeth?

Finally get to see what Patrick can do. Adolis Garcia was off to an 0/4 start but finally got a single. Dakota Hudson has been the most impressive of any Triple-A graduate imo. Given up a hit here and there, but ERA is still 0.00

He was actually chosen by the Tigers. Not sure which (if any) deal he got sent over in and am too lazy to check.

Drafted by the Cardinals w/ a compensation pick from the Detroit Tigers for the loss of Octavio Dotel.

Glad this guy got a shot. Was always nice to the fans when Memphis would come to town.

The youth movement of the pitching staff & the outfield so far looking good, now with Wisdom up to play 3rdbase this truly puts added pressure on FO to go get a big name free agent or possibly a trade for that 3-4 place hitter in the lineup. I’m all for going young and getter stronger, quicker, and even better defensively but have to plug a big name- big bat in there somewhere Please. I’m thinking Schildt has been better than I thought but I’d like to see a veteran presence Managing this team going forward but if things are still going well in 6 weeks then maybe he is our guy…..P. Wisdom welcome to the big league!

Girardi should be the next manager. Interim managers as permanent hires don’t work out so well.

So far Shildt has done a stellar job. See how the rest of the year plays out.
