6:17PM: The Rockies are the team closing in on the Oh trade, MLB.com’s Jon Paul Morosi reports.
5:46PM: The Blue Jays are closing in on a trade involving right-hander Seunghwan Oh, according to Steve Phillips of MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM (Twitter link). The deal could be completed as soon as today. An Oh deal could make a very busy day for the Jays on the transaction front, as the club is also reportedly close to an even bigger trade of southpaw J.A. Happ.
Oh has been outstanding in his first year in Toronto, with a 2.68 ERA, 10.5 K/9, and 5.5 K/BB rate over 47 innings out of the Jays’ bullpen. It has been a thoroughly strong rebound season for the 36-year-old, as home run problems led to Oh posting a 4.10 ERA for the Cardinals in 2017. This year, however, Oh’s homer rate has settled back down to a much more manageable 8.2%.
Virtually every contender is looking for bullpen help, so any number of teams could be checking in on Oh. The veteran is owed only around $500K for the remainder of the season, and he is controllable in 2019 via a very affordable $2MM club option ($250K buyout).
Uh OH
Oh for Harper. Who says no?
Blue Jays. They should be asking for more
Yep Harper is a rental. Oh has a cheap option for next year
Harper is more likelier to go to az or Colorado
I’m expecting a better return than we got for Smith last year. And I’m pretty sure Cleveland overpaid for Smith
Oh no!
Quality setup piece for the Phillies?
Just get rid of him and the rest of that bullpen.
The difference between Oh and the rest of the expendable relievers is that Oh is really good
And contenders would want him
OH is a good reliever and he is pitching well of late. He didn’t start off 2018 too sharp.
Comes with a second year too based on appearances. Not a rental.
It’s weird cause I look at the numbers and they are very good but every time I watch he scares me. I feel like he hasn’t been as good as the numbers say but I dont know
Oh oh the return?
Braves … calling it now. Makes sense
I hope
Well looks like I was wrong. What a shame
Oh really?
Has to be the Braves, AA probably has a good relationship with the Blue Jays front office. Wonder if they will get Happ too and a bat if there is one available.
Jays don’t have much on the lumber front other than Smoak, who the Braves don’t need. Maybe Solarte.
I don’t think they’re getting a bay from the Jays
I like Solarte, he is on my fantasy team.
Granderson but don’t need an OF. Martin no need a Catcher. Diaz no need a SS. Donaldson but is injured. Stroman or Estrada or even former Brave Garcia.
Forgive me, Jimmer you know it’s not my style to call others out, but if Blue Jays get any prospects for this guy, doesn’t that make you wrong for criticizing his signing initially?
#MLBTR Scoutseyes
lol
Dude hates the blue jays. Didn’t he used to scout for the Red Sox?
I think calling this out is absolutely fine. Everyone on the site knows jimmertee.
It’s honestly embarrassing. That poster puts a lot of work in faking fandom
Pass. How do you make sure he doesn’t face any lefty batters.
Left handed batters vs Oh this year: .315/.413/.537. Horrible
Roogy?
It’s not worth mentioning his .168/.190/.269 line against righties this year?
Or his .257/.328/.415 career line against lefties (after factoring in his 15 innings worth of poor pitching against them this year)?
Ok. Wouldn’t want him on my team. .940 ops. Keep sending him out there, it can get down to .800
Gotta be LA Dodgers
Oh and Happ to Cubs
Rockies got him.
For 2 1B prospects so maybe Smoak is on the move.
Ones in A ball? I don’t think Smoak is worried
Sounds like a value pick-up right up Sabean’s alley
On the other hand, it’s Steve Phillips reporting. Believe this when you see it.
Chad Spanberger and Sean Bouchard might be going to Toronto.
What do we get for Eugene Koo?
Gonna show her my “Oh face”
Thought the Braves would have a good chance at him
Figured he would be traded, not sure why there wasn’t a whole lotta (any?) talk about him.
(Stolen from Twitter)
Seung it ain’t S’Oh 🙂
Oh will struggle in this park as be did last year with the Redbirds
