How in hell does Harper have a .215 BA in 331 AB? (409 PA)
His homers (23) and walks (78) rank near the top of NL tho
nymetsking
100+ of those ABs are Ks.
mack22 2
Harper is hitting .215, trading him now won’t get the best return
Houston We Have A Solution
Free agent at end of the year, walking at a pretty hefty clip 18%, they may not get a super return, but see what clubs are offering and if its more than what a QO pick will do for you take it.
Bart
he will accept the QO and hope for a better season in 19 and a far better FA contract.
Houston We Have A Solution
Season isn’t over. He goes on an other worldly run which players of his caliber can, donaldson/stanton recently, hes right back in line for a major pay day.
Solaris601
The return would most probably be better than the comp pick they’ll get when he declines the QO after the season. I agree that trading him now is the best option, but I don’t think the FO and ownership have the cajones to do it.
mack22 2
It would be pretty close to conceding the rest of the year. Just under .500 the Nats better turn it around quick

SWINGING FOR FENCES,ITS COMMON SENSE.ALL OR NONE,STRIKE OUT OR HR.
Mattimeo09
I don’t think Harper should be traded, BUT it’s going to look very bad if Nats don’t make playoffs and didn’t trade him
Philliesfan4life
I think they should, they are playing too inconsistent , prolly the favorite in the national league going into the season, and look at them.
RedRooster
Then they should trade him.
Houston We Have A Solution
The braves trades for iglasias and realmuto are a joke. No way the reds or marlins accept those packages.
Literally the padres traded Hand and a guy who dominates righties for a top 20 prospect. And they think fried will be enough to get iglasias and hughes? Yeah right. More like kyle wright or Koby Allard / Ian Anderson (pick 1) and another prospect.
2.5 years of both iglesias and hughes will net the reds more than max fried.
Dawgsfan2
Hell No I’m not giving up Wright Allard or Anderson
Houston We Have A Solution
Then youre not getting iglasias and hughes. You get talent by giving up talent. If the braves wanna offer second rate deals and bargain deals theyll get second rate talent and bargain talent.
jdgoat
Then you’re not getting any good players
Knowthemarket
Any possibility that there was an over pay there? I think I want to see that kind of trade repeated before I buy into that as market regular.
Houston We Have A Solution
Andrew Miller- Aroldis Chapman- Brad Hand- Craig Kimbrel how many trades of elite relievers do you need to see repeated?
Micah Smith
I’m getting the impression that you are rating Iglesias and Hughes as the same level as Hand and Cimber. But the point was that this is a step back from Hand and Cimber and wouldn’t cost quite as much. Looking at it again, I can see that Hand and Iglesias are pretty close, but I’d still give Hand the edge by a smidgen. Also, Hughes is just an average veteran arm having a good year and not as valuable as Cimber. When I look in terms of control, you are looking beyond this year at 8 years between Hand (3 years) and Cimber (5 years) compared to 4 years between Iglesias (2 years) and Hughes (2 years). Honestly, I think Burrows straight up for Hughes about balances out. So the trade comparison is Hand+Cimber for Mejia (a guy in the 10-20 prospect range) versus Iglesias for Fried (a guy in the 70s-80 range). I think Allard, Wright, or Anderson are a bit of a big ask for one relief pitcher who is good but isn’t keeping company with Kimbrel et. al. Fried, meanwhile would instantly be one of the more exciting pitchers in the Reds horrible rotation as a cost controlled prospect with a ton of potential if he can find some consistency. The Reds have what? One real SP prospect anywhere close to the majors and one a few years away? Iglesias isn’t doing much for them without starters worth a flip, so he’s definitely moveable. I could see them getting a little more than Fried, like a second pitcher along the lines of Tucker Davidson. But at the end of the day, who knows? Trades are crazy and likely never materialize, so this was more a type of trade I think the Braves need to make (solid relievers a step down from Hand/Cimber for a solid prospect a step down from Mejia).
Houston We Have A Solution
Cimber is purely a righty weapon. Lefties demolish him- to the tune of .288/.391/.569. 5 years of a guy who you can only pitch against righties isn’t worth all that much. In high leverage situations he’s posted disastrous results. He’s at his best when nobody is on base. Not exactly worth much for a mop up guy or a guy that youll use in certain situations.
Far as Hughes goes, he’s posted similar batting lines against righties and lefties, both sub.650 OPS. He’s better when in tougher situations given his high leverage results as well as being better with men on base and men in scoring. Plus he’s been successful in probably the most hitter friendly park in the league.
Iglesias and Hand are very similar players. But Hughes is twice the pitcher Cimber is. Results prove that. Hughes is by far the better asset to have especially if you’re trying to compete.
Hughes 2.2 WAR > 0.5 Adam Cimber WAR.

Shout out to Rising Apple for limiting themselves to just 20 things that have gone wrong for the Mess this season. Hahaha
Dawgsfan2
Some of these damn trades that i have seen involving the Braves. Are really awful for the Braves
shelteredsoxfan
Madrigal is gonna be great for the White Sox
gary55wv
Nats should go ahead and offer 10 year 300 mil. Or 15 year 400 mil.
steelerbravenation
Iglesias to Braves for Fried, Fuller & Ynoa
RedRooster
Wtf is MLB & Fantasy Baseball Analyzed talking about??? There is no “trading Bryce Harper while still trying to contend.” If they trade him, their season is over. Period.
Granted, I think it’s over even if they don’t trade him.
