The latest minor moves from around baseball:
- The Braves have selected right-hander Luke Jackson’s contract from Triple-A and optioned fellow righty Lucas Sims, Gabe Burns of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports on Twitter. Jackson’s now back on Atlanta’s 40-man roster after the club outrighted him two weeks ago. The 26-year-old appeared in two of the Braves’ games this season before they booted him from their roster, allowing two earned runs on two walks and one hit in 1 1/3 innings. Jackson has experienced some success in the minors this year, on the other hand, having pitched to a 3.86 ERA with 12.54 K/9, 5.79 BB/9 and a 50 percent groundball rate across 9 1/3 frames.

I’m starting to get frustrated this guy. He needed to completely figure it out before being called up again.

I agree. I’m not sure why he is being brought up now. Seems like the Braves are never satisfied. They move guys up and down like crazy. I’m assuming they are looking for anyone who can be lights out at the major league level. Maybe just catching relievers at the right time ??

This is not about who is lights out at the MLB level. This is about the Braves’ starters getting roughed up the last two nights and the club needing extra bullpen arms.
These swingmen/relievers/AAAA starter types will spend all season bouncing back and forth between Gwinnett and Atlanta. They are expendable, can eat innings in mop up duties, and can save the high leverage guys for high leverage situations.
