The Dodgers have released veteran infielder Danny Espinosa from their Triple-A club, tweets Ken Gurnick of MLB.com. He’d signed with the organization on a minor league pact back in early May.
Espinosa, who turned 31 last month, has bounced all over the league since opening the 2017 season with the Angels. The longtime Nationals infielder was released by the Halos last July, and has since had brief stints with five other organizations: the Rays, Mariners, Yankees, Blue Jays and Dodgers (though he only appeared in the Majors with Tampa Bay and Seattle).
Espinosa’s time with the Dodgers organization will prove to be brief, as he appeared in just 19 games with their Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City and batted .150/.203/.267 with a pair of homers but a 36.9 percent strikeout rate. Espinosa has long carried a strong defensive reputation and did slug 24 homers for the Nationals as recently as 2016, but he’s struggled mightily at the plate both in 2017 and again so far in 2018.

Seems like someone who the Mets would sign

That third base position has his name written all over it

Or Boston if no MLB ready job is available and they still may want short term depth in case of injuries. Right now Lin is the only minor league infield talent they have.

Stick Hanley at 3B. He was raking it big time in April.

I could see Cardinals pick him up to play SS until Dejong comes back
CardsNation5
No chance in hell that happens. Munoz is handling the position very well and unlike Espinoza, he can hit.
brucewayne
Heck no! The Cards have numerous players who can handle SS better than him! Munoz or Gyorko or Garcia are all better !
em650r
He must have some bad personality to be cut over and over
Cam
Probably more to do with having a .470 OPS at Triple-A.

I don’t know about his relationships with teammates but I’ve met Danny a couple of times (with my 8yo son) and he is truly a class-act when it comes to interactions with fans. I could share a couple of stories that would turn the haters around. But you’re right, Danny can’t even get hit now adays which is likely why he keeps getting cut.
I hope that Danny finds his swing again and that a team is willing to give him a chance and time to do that.

As long a long time Danny fan, it’s hard to say, but when he was a visiting play for the AAA team I work for, I heard of multiple bad exchanges with some other employees. Might not be taking minor league life too well at the moment.

He can’t hit a lick because he won’t stop swinging for the fences. Great fielder though with the best SS arm I have ever seen.

Can Y’all say hello Rangers
User 1104686089
why would the Rangers need Espinoza? We have too many infield options already.

Dodgers will resign him because Utley is on DL.
