Why didn’t the Red Sox let Wright serve his suspension before going on the DL like Gurriel? I would have thought they’d at least let him serve a few to open the season (before they get to their #5 starter in the rotation, at least). Oh well.

Isn’t it kind of BS that Gurriel served his suspension while he was unable to play then was placed on the DL with the same injury? It sort of feels like the Astros are taking advantage of a loophole.

That Richards kid mentioned for the Marlins above threw pretty much 2 pitches and the only good one this evening was his changeup. It’s good.. Really good, but throwing that along with a mediocre upper 80’s FB, it had better be and he was throwing the thing on 3-2 counts.
When see those pretty much 1 pitch kind of guys always reminds me of this guy the Yankees brought up many years ago, a lefty whose name escapes me. He had a screwball and same mediocre FB. Screwball would eat up RH hitters and break out of the zone. Zimmer loaded his lineup with RH hitters and this kid ate them up. Earl Weaver of Baltimore, being far more intelligent than the clueless Don Zimmer just loaded his lineup with LH hitters when the O’s faced him.
Wish could remember that kid’s name, he won like 15-17g at AAA 1 year before getting a chance to throw for NY, but his MLB career was short with 1 pitch, just as will be Richards as a SP.

As an Orioles fan i think its about time Wieters retires. He has been injured so much its getting almost rare that he plays 100 games. He was a hell of a player to start but i think the Nats over paid him when they should have seen how much he declined. If he wants to continue playing, he needs to either learn to play first or move to a AL team and DH.

I think when the Nats signed him last winter they talked themselves into believing Wieters was due for a major rebound, and boy were they wrong. He’s far from the worst C in baseball, but he’d be better off as a backup at this point. I still hold out hope that WAS will trade for Realmuto at the deadline.
