Right-hander Alec Asher has cleared waivers and been assigned outright to Triple-A Colorado Springs after being designated for assignment last week, as first reflected on the MLB.com Transactions page. He’ll remain with the organization and hope to pitch his way into consideration for a look in the Majors later this season.
The 26-year-old Asher has appeared in 36 big league games over the past three seasons, 18 of them starts, splitting his time between the Phillies (2015-16) and Orioles (2017). Baltimore designated him for assignment when setting its Opening Day roster, and was claimed by the Dodgers and then the Brewers before ultimately clearing the third time he was attempted to be put through waivers.
Last year with the Orioles, Asher totaled 60 innings with a 47-to-23 K/BB and 5.25 ERA. While the righty demonstrated an ability to pitch out of both the rotation and bullpen in multi-inning stints, he also served up 10 homers in last year’s 60 frames. He’ll head to Triple-A with a 3.74 ERA, 6.3 K/9 and 2.1 BB/9 in 173 1/3 innings of work at that level (including a brief three-inning appearance with the Dodgers this year).

The best team in the NL Central makes a roster move. Brewers are much better than every other team in the division.

Poor quality bait.

A yawn-worthy, but smart series of moves by Stearns:
1) Claim Asher off waivers, who was outrighted by Dodgers
2) Trade cash for Saladino, and outright Asher
3) Asher clears wavers
Adds depth to the club without giving up much.

next up Wilmer Font?

I think by July you could see a rotation of Anderson, Nelson, Corbin, Peralta and Woodruff with maybe Guerra and Suter as swingman. Then maybe use Wilkerson, Chacin, Drake, Davies, Asher, Lopez and Brooks as trade bait for prospects

Ol’ Wily Peralta isn’t on the team anymore friend. And only half of those pitchers you have listed would have any sort of trade value in my book. Other than that I can agree with you. Mostly I wanted to post RIP Davey Nelson. Class act and one nice guy.
augold5
I believe he means Freddy Peralta

I’m not your friend, buddy.
pdxbrewcrew
No. You’re supposed to respond with “I’m not your buddy, guy.”
Don’t you watch South Park?

Why are you taking Guerra out of the rotation? hes 2-0 with a sub 1 ERA in 3 starts. Sure he had a bad year last year, but so far hes returning to form from 2 years ago when he was great. If his pitch count gets managed better so he can stretch through 6 innings thats really the only knock on him so far.

Ahh thank you for the correction. Then I’d just say I don’t see Woodruff, Corbin and Peralta all passing up Zach Davies this season.

Well I get that for me it’s kinda a pipe dream with what I said partly I can’t see the Brewers wouldn’t want to start 3 pitchers clock on the same time with Corbin,Freddy and Woodruff as far as control. I do think Davies may end up having to spend time in minors. I kinda put him as a trade candidate because of his reputation not happy last year with him being sent down during all star break. As far as the guys mentioned for trade possibility as getting lottery picks like Peralta was when received in the Adam Lind trade. I would also say that Davey will be greatly missed by Brewer fans and all the people he helped.
