The latest minor moves from around baseball:
- Right-hander Josh Roenicke is joining the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions in Taiwan, Chris Cotillo of SB Nation tweets. This will be the second straight season abroad for the 35-year-old Roenicke, who pitched in the Mexican League in 2017. Roenicke last appeared in the majors in 2013 as a member of the Twins, with whom he tossed 62 innings of 4.35 ERA ball. Prior to his Minnesota stint, Roenicke saw big league action with the Reds, Blue Jays and Rockies. Across 220 1/3 major league frames, he has logged a 4.17 ERA with 6.86 K/9, 4.78 BB/9 and a 46.7 percent groundball rate.
What the heck are the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions lol
Sounds like he’s playing soccer in Mexico lol
No idea but a 35 year old trying to revive your career in Taiwan should hang it up
If someone was willing to pay me to travel and play baseball, I’d sure as hell do it.
Why? Even if he never makes it back to the majors (assuming that is even his goal) – the dude is getting paid to play baseball. A year playing baseball in South Korea and experiencing a new culture sounds a lot more fun than a ‘regular’ job.
Taiwan isn’t Korea.
Does it really matter? He is getting to play. Money is money and baseball is baseball
Not everyone is a travel nut. He could very well be doing it just for passion in that case sure. But if he is trying to make it back to the bigs Taiwan (not Korea) wont help him do that. The leauge is not competitive enough to get Mlb teams to recognize.
For love of the game
Misread that, thanks for the correction. Still, same point.. chance to play professional ball and check out a new culture. Sounds pretty fun.
Thank you, come again
Brock Lesnar
The guy is hunting his coins! Hope coffee comes as part of contract
7-11 haha. Love it.
The name of this team just made my day. The fact that it is one of my favorite former Rockies joining them is just the icing on the cake. I may have to join a fan club.
That clubhouse has to have the best snack table in baseball history
