Going with Austin Romine “For some reason”?
Steve, your arrogance is only surpassed by your painful ignorance at times.
Romine has been in the Yankees organization longer than 80% of the roster, and for a team going through “rebuilding”, having a catcher with that kind of organizational experience, ESPECIALLY when the starting catcher’s defense is suspect, is an incredibly valuable asset. It’s quite suprising to see someone so entrenched in the game have an opinion on par with an ingorant fan who isn’t able to see the peripherals of the game. Sure, he doesn’t have the best bat, but any offense a backup catcher gives is gravy, and you should know that. Romine’s knowledge and experience with the pitching staff is a lot more vauble than the offense that the best back up catcher in the league offers, considering how much offense the Yankees are expected to produce this year.
I hope someone who knows a lot more about this game knocks you down a peg someday soon. Shouldn’t be too hard to find.

Thanks for your thoughts, Mrs. Romine…

Thanks for your thoughtful and insightful comment, fan as ignorant as Steve Adams

ThisIsTheYear (for your enlightenment, perhaps):
Someone who knows a lot more about baseball, and about what it takes to express a qualified professional opinion than you do, may soon knock you down a peg someday soon and wake you up.
Shouldn’t take too long if you continue to deal with people with your present arrogant, demeaning attitude.
Be well.

“Someone who knows a lot more about baseball”
Which you have made it clear is someone other than yourself, because you’ve added absolutely zero actual baseball discussion to either of your comments, just poor attempts at knocking my character and opinion.
Thanks for the well wishes, I wish you’d just grow up.

I have to respectfully disagree with Mr. Adams.
I don’t think people are up in arms about the Pirates lack of a return, solely because of prospect rankings or lack thereof…
I think it is just because the Pirates did not land even one, future impact prospect. Fans are up in arms because it’s obvious the Pirates GM chose quantity over quality. It’s been reported they really wanted Frazier the most of all, but they wouldn’t complete the deal because they did not like the secondary pieces they were offered.
Personally, I think, if you’re a low budget team, then you have to go after impact players when possible. A team can always bring up a #4-#5 starting pitcher, which is how I view Musgrove..Not only that, he will be transitioning back from being used in the bullpen, which does carry some risks in itself. Unless the Pirates are very careful with him, as he translates back into a starter, he will be very vulnerable to a possible injury..
Idk, Yes, Cole was coming off a “down” season, but as an asset and considering his level of talent, I still viewed him much more highly than the return the Pirates received from the Astros.
Only time will truly tell the tale of this trade; however, I’m very skeptical that the Pirates will look back on this trade with fond memories..I could be wring, but maybe Musgrove turns into a viable #3-#4 starting pitcher, maybe Moran works out as their 3B’man of the future, and maybe their other piece, Michael Feliz, becomes a reliable ser-up man out of their bullpen..
