Jeffrey Todd, while I get your rationale on the whole Yelich, Realmuto thinking between Braves and Nationals, it blows, and here’s why… which do you think the Marlins would rather have? Robles and a few other prospects or a bunch of pitching prospects? Because I just checked and the Nats only have 3 pitching prospects in the top 15 in their system, whereas the Braves have 9 pitching prospects in the top 15. So I seriously doubt the Marlins would take a package of Robles and whoever over what the Braves would offer, which would be much better and much more pitching. And that’s with out including Acuna.
Agreed
Not to mention you can’t find a scout out there Who put Robles in the same level of prospect as Acuna so why even start there when you know he is untouchable because he is another level of prospect compared to Robles.
Great chat though much appreciated!
Could the Braves make a better prospect offer than the Nats? Sure. But I was discussing whether they will be willing to do so. I never passed judgment on the respective farm systems.
Also, not sure if you saw this Jeffrey, but there was a poll in November between the 2. MLBPipeline.com conducted an anonymous survey, both of players currently in the AFL and team executives (general managers, scouting directors, etc.), to see who they preferred. The result was far from unanimous, but with 30 players and 15 executives weighing in, there is a definite majority leaning in Acuna’s direction.
Acuna won the player vote, 19-11, while he took the executive vote, 11-4.
So just because a player is #1 in one farm system, doesn’t mean he matches the #1 in another farm system. So yes, Robles and Acuna may be their respective teams #1 prospect in that system, but they are not equals when it comes to who would rather have who. And according to the poll, Acuna edges out Robles
I’m not sure why you’d suggest I assume that a top prospect in a given farm system is equivalent to another. Where did I do that? I always steer clear of offering opinions of that kind and did not do so here.
Nothing I wrote in the chat suggested anything about which of those two players is the better prospect. I was discussing the teams’ respective willingness to part with top prospect assets, in relation to their competitive timelines.
Good, I hope the Braves lose Acuna anyway. Id rather keep Robles.
Why do you think the Braves would lose him? he would be no part of any trade discussions but Robles would, because he’s not as valuable as Acuna.
Acuna is a class above Robles. He’s not moving, rather he’s starting in a corner OFspot for the Braves in 2018 week 3
MLB. Com:
Robles #3 Prospect in MLB
Acuna #6
Top Outfield prospects:
Robles #1
Acuna #3
Drop the mic!
That was their status at the beginning of the 2017 season. That poll that I just posted was from November, after the season ended. And when the new prospect statuses come out before the 2018 season, Acuna will be #1 and Robles won’t be. So yeah, drop the mic…on your face DA.
What’s DA stand for?
Exactly. Haha!!
Wrong! Ohtani of the Angels is listed number 1! I suppose he was already on their team at the beginning of 2017!
Crawled away with ur tail between ur legs
Why would I do that when I am right? Ohtani on an outdated list, who cares. You better frame it though because it’s the last prospects ranking list you’ll see with Robles being higher than Acuna.
Here’s that list again, in case you forgot. Robles is not even on the list, hahaha
Here are the results of this year’s overall prospect poll:
Shohei Ohtani, RHP/OF, Angels 10
Ronald Acuna, OF, Braves 8
Vladimir Guerrero Jr., 3B, Blue Jays 1
Eloy Jimenez, OF, White Sox 1
Fernando Tatis Jr., SS, Padres 1
Forrest Whitley, RHP, Astros 1
Did your crawl away with your tail between your legs? If you can’t take the heat stay out of the kitchen buddy, or at least come up with facts and not hopes and wishes as those are only useful in your daycare
Where do you get your fake news DA ? Look up sarcasm! You call it this years poll, Ohtani signed 12/8/17. My info is from MLB.com. Where’s yours from ?
Are you serious? Are you dumb? Probably both. Here’s the link, moron. mlb.com/news/poll-execs-say-shohei-ohtani-mlb-top-…
