I think you have to be on Facebook or something to get a question answered. I still been trying for like three months
lowtalker1
Ive gotten some answered. It really depends on the time and how deep you go. Too deep and they won’t touch it. Simple ones and it’s game on
Jeff Todd
We’d love to have time to answer deep questions, but it’s a constant balance: is this something I can reasonably think up and write up an answer to while people are sitting there waiting for a response?
lowtalker1
Exactly
Ironman_4life
Yeah
Jeff Todd
I’m not even on facebook! Do my best, it’s just impossible even to read a small portion of the questions that come in.
southi
I loved the comment about Mets pitchers.

Everyone needs to chill. Chat hosts should not be giving power to all these people who b***h and moan about not getting their questions answered. I rarely get one answered and I’m totally fine with it. Quit bringing down the people who appreciate what they do FOR FREE.
bravesiowafan
Well if every chat they didn’t respond to 3 or 4 non baseball questions or respond to why don’t you ever answer me we wouldn’t hear about it. Seriously love this site and the work they do including the chats but how often do we see the stupidest most ridiculous questions or the same questions about the same player over and over? It burns ppl out they came here for quality baseball questions and responses relating to mlbtr and you spend a quarter of a chat on the same question being answered or the same person being answered. There is work that could be done to this chat. They’ve had these chats for years a little change doesn’t hurt. Like having standards of not answering the same ppl over and over or answering why don’t you respond to my question when they could respond to a legitimate baseball question. Again absolutely love this site and the crew just wish they take these more serious for the serious fans on here.
BusterMove
Half agreed. I said in my original comment that they shouldn’t respond to the people whining about not being picked, because that just gives them power to continue throwing fits.
I like the non-baseball questions, though. They don’t take over the chat, but they still keep things fresh, and often give us a look at the human side of these hosts on a non-baseball level. Nothing wrong with that, as long as it’s not the only stuff they answer!
Jeff Todd
We do take them seriously. And appreciate feedback.
Re responding to complaints, in part I do it just as a note to those who are curious. Not everyone is aware of how many readers we have participating and may just feel slighted. Really, it’s a total free-for-all in there.
If the same questioner is getting answered, that’s likely just also random chance. Or perhaps that we want to allow some opportunity for follow-up of sorts.
Re answering a few nonsensical questions … well, everyone’s taste is different. To an extent, the chats are designed to put a little personality into the site since we spend so much time doing things by the book. From the perspective of the “chatter,” it’s also tough to keep going without an opportunity to break things up a bit. Today I think I went for over 90 minutes, so tossing in a few asides doesn’t take away from the bulk of the conversation, I don’t think. But I understand why it can induce eye rolls, too.

Love what you all do, Jeff. Thanks!

Agreed thanks for your hard work mlbtr team!

TY Jeff. Keep up the good work

I asked a question. Wasnt complaining. Work on your comprehension a little bit

Someone asked about Bautista getting a MLB contract and you answered “Hey, Granderson got some cash”
But Granderson was much more valuable — worth +2.1 WAR with 2 teams, 2017 to Bautista’s -0.5 WAR.
Sorry Jeff, I’m a big fan of Grandy^
Jeff Todd
No doubt. Grandy’s overall level of play was higher and perhaps it stands to reason he’d earn more. I just meant to refer to the older demographic and the fact there’s still some demand for these guys. In Bautista’s case, it’s more of a pure bounceback gamble; as recently as 2016, he put up a 120-ish wRC+. Also depends on roster need, of course.

No doubt….Bautista to the Rays. Too much common sense not to happen. Lives locally, chance for revenge…etc, all that has to happen is for him to nudge closer to the minimum wage then the Rays will pounce.

3:18 I don’t think the sky is falling in Pittsburgh.”
The sky is always falling in Pittsburgh sports. They want to fire the coach of a 13-3 football team and spent a month talking about how the two time defending champion hockey team should focus on next year. Just how it is.
“Generally, though, I’m stunned that so many people were stunned by the Cutch trade. It seemed pretty danged likely, no?”
The media here uses the “mushroom management” equivalent of sports talk/ journalism on the fans. They keep them uniformed so it’s easier to rabble rouse them. Just how it is.

If you’re having a fistfight by an east coast stadium, of course you’re going to be accused of east coast bias.
