LOLOLOLOL the idea that the Yankees would give up anything of value for Schwarber, who would be essentially useless on the Yankees is absolutely hilarious. I was laughing so hard when I read the answer that the Yanks would need to give up Chad Green or Betances AND top prospects for Schwarber. Yeah, NO THANKS! He’s an extremely limited player who likely won’t amount to even half the value of either of those relievers. Not sure what you’re thinking there… or why the Cubs have such a high opinion of their oft-injured, underperforming young player.
Cubguy13
Are you aware the Yankees were willing to trade the Cubs Andrew Miller for Schwarber while Schwarber was on the DL? Apparently your Yankees have a high opinion of him considering it was the Yankees front office who said that Schwarber would hit 50 hrs a year at Yankee stadium. And “oft” injured?! He was injured once on a freak play that would not even have happened if he was a DH like he would be for NY. Why even comment when you don’t have any facts to say

Schwarber isn’t good. He was worth literally 0 wins last year. Why the hell would the Yankees trade one of the best relievers in MLB PLUS top prospects from their loaded system for a player that doesn’t do anything at all to make them better? The only way this happens is if the Cubs give him away at a much lower cost, say Adam Warren plus a lower level prospect. Ain’t no way in hell they’re trading All Star level pitchers for someone who has never played well enough to be worth anything more than replacement level.

Also important to note that the Yankees interest is likely only based on the buy-low opportunity. Have you looked at the Yankees recent history? They literally almost exclusively trade for buy-low opportunities. Nick Swisher. Didi Gregorius. Martin Prado. Aaron Hicks. Aroldis Chapman (IMO a really f*cked up trade after domestic violence allegations). They aren’t going to trade for a player who hasn’t really proven himself and give up one of the very best, most talented relievers in the game as well as top prospects. Just doesn’t mesh well with anything the Yankees have done in recent memory.
Cubguy13
So are you saying that the Yankees weren’t willing to trade one of the best relievers in baseball in 2016 for Schwarber straight up and while Schwarber was on the DL? I’d say that shows a pretty high level of interest on the Yankees part that I doubt has changed much even with the year he had last year.

That was before he played all of 2017 with a .315 OBP and a .211 average and a 0.0 WAR.
And I’m doubtful they’d have pulled the plug on that trade so easily, even if it was an offer on the table. Yanks like to buy low, and Miller got them far more than Schwarber. Would have been a stupid trade. Yanks arent above making stupid trades–but Clint Frazier and Justus Sheffield are very likely to outperform Schwarber and they have much more time on their contracts.
Cubguy13
I’m not saying they will give up a top reliever plus top prospects but I wouldn’t put it past them to trade a top reliever for him straight up. Schwarbers potential for an AL team is pretty high st this point. If he was older I would say otherwise but the guy has a ton of power and would be a perfect DH. Hes not as bad of a hitter as last years numbers suggest

It’s not 2016 anymore ! The Cubs are not a dynasty . Get over it!

You have no idea what you are saying.

Charles is right. The Yankees don’t need Schwarber since Ohtani will be wearing pinstripes in spring….

He’s a Mendoza line DH… Seriously what are you all smoking?
dstuart
Even though the Yankees aren’t even in consideration for his services…
yanks2009
Good point yankee fans… NO need to comment!!

So many delusional Cub fans. Green AND top prospects? Hilarious.
Green was arguably our best bullpen arm and would easily step in and take over the closer role with the Cubs. You think we’re trading that for a DH who hasn’t hit consistently for a whole season? DREAMING
chitown311
All these comments from Cubs fans living in a fantasy world. He is the definition of a one tool. He hits for power that’s it. He doesn’t have a great arm, his fielding is laughable, he doesn’t hit for average and he certainly does not have speed. Tommy Joseph can be had for a box of balls from Philly if they want a DH
