Here are the latest minor league moves from around baseball, with the newest transactions at the top of the post…
- The Mariners have re-signed infielder Gordon Beckham to a new minor league deal, SB Nation’s Chris Cotillo tweets. Beckham spent 2017 on another minor league contract with Seattle and spent the majority of the season at the Triple-A level, appearing in just 11 games in an Mariners uniform. The light-hitting veteran utilityman will continue to provide the M’s with some infield depth in the minors, though it seems unlikely Beckham will get much time on the 25-man roster unless injury strikes.
- The Angels signed outfielder Rymer Liriano to a minors deal, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. Once ranked as a top-60 prospect in baseball during his time in the Padres farm system, Liriano has a .274/.346/.432 slash line over 3599 career PA in the minors but he has appeared just sparingly in the majors, posting a .580 OPS over 167 PA with the Padres and White Sox. Forty-six of those plate appearances came last season for Chicago, as Liriano got his first taste of big league action since 2014.
- The Dodgers have agreed to sign Colombian right-hander Guillermo Zuniga to a deal with a $205K bonus, MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez reports (Twitter link). Zuniga was one of the 12 former Braves prospects who were declared free agents in the wake of MLB’s investigation into signing improprieties within Atlanta’s front office. Each of the other 29 teams received an extra $200K in international bonus pool funds to sign any of these players, so the Dodgers only slightly dipped into their pre-existing pool money for Zuniga. The Braves originally signed Zuniga, 19, to a $350K bonus.

Rymer is such a great athlete. He was just never the same after tjs
Also, I hope he can clean up his approach on the strike zone
Wish him the best

He was lined up for an outfield spot on the Brewers a couple years ago after tearing up spring training, then got hit in the face with a pitch at the end of ST and was out for the year. Was sad to see him lose that chance.

…yawn… So when is LA going to do something about their pitching? Or are they hoping to luck out on younger talent like last year with Bellinger and Taylor. Common guys, you seriously let A big bat like Stanton, of which practically was begging to come to LA, and hardly even batted an eye at Darvish and Murrow. Seriously?!? Darvish is a free agent and will help bulk our bullpen. Dump Ryu and put Maeda in relief. Put Urias in Relief as well to get some work and let Kaz and McCarthy fight for the #5 spot.

Pitching was never their problem in the world series. And no a wild game in houston does not indicate anything. They need to get a solid middle reliver but thats not very difficult to find.

Pitching is the angels biggest problem
They have zero depth
And subpar starters and relievers

1. You don’t really “luck out” when a player (Bellinger) who’s been ranked #7 on BA’s top prospect list has a breakout campaign. They do bust sometimes, sure, but this was no fluke.
2. Re: Stanton, this is a player who NO team even placed a waiver claim on four short months ago. Translation? Nobody wanted to take on that contract — it wasn’t JUST L.A.
3. Hardly even batted an eye at Darvish? I bet you were berating the dude after Game 3 and Game 7. Not that I’d necessarily blame you. Also, Darvish is a SP. Doesn’t really help the BP much.
4. No one wants Ryu, and if they do we’d get less than what we value him as — which is SP depth.
5. Maeda will not be a full-time reliever. At least, not in the regular season. His contract is set up with SP incentives and his earning potential would be decimated by coming out of the pen. Plus, the way the rotation is set up, he’s probably more valuable in the starting rotation anyway.
6. Urias won’t be back til August, at the earliest. He will need to be coddled as he makes his way back. Highly unlikely he plays a significant role in 2018.
7. Kazmir probably never throws another pitch in MLB.
8. Most of your baseball takes are very, very bad.

Dervish is gonna cost a pretty penny, Morrow got darn near closer money! He was a minor league contract guy last year…the Dodgers front office is smart and has made all the right moves up to this point…they will sign the right guys and they’re not letting themselves get caught up in a ton of guaranteed money that could hinder their ability to lock up their young guys down the road…be patient, they will be around for a long time
