I don’t buy Schwarber as having “huge trade value”. He’s a liability in the field, and he hasn’t put up exceptional numbers since 2015. I’m not sure he’s been able to make the adjustments now that pitchers have adjusted to him. I wouldn’t be happy if my team gave up huge value and put him in the OF. Maybe he does to an AL club desperate for a DH.

If Schwarber cuts down on the strikeouts, we’re having a different conversation about his potential. He’s got a respectable arm in LF and gets to most balls hit his way. That said, moving him to the AL in a DH role makes him more productive and prolongs his career. The right hitting coach could make Schwarber a beast.

Unfortunately for Schwarber, after he got recalled from AAA his strikeout rate was at 33%. Not encouraging at all.
