9:24pm: Ravin has now been dealt to the Braves in exchange for cash considerations, Shaikin tweets. He joins fellow reliever Grant Dayton in following executive Alex Anthopoulos from Los Angeles to Atlanta.
7:31pm: The Dodgers have designated righty Josh Ravin for assignment, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times was among those to tweet. As he departs the 40-man, righties Trevor Oaks and Dennis Santana will join it.
Ravin, 29, showed some big swing-and-miss potential after landing with the Dodgers but never fully caught on in the majors. A PED suspension and some injuries certainly had an impact. Ravin ultimately threw 16 2/3 frames in the bigs in 2017, allowing 12 earned runs with a 19:9 K/BB ratio. In 35 1/3 Triple-A innings, he pitched to a 4.33 ERA with 14.0 K/9 against 4.8 BB/9.

This has gotta be the most boring offseason I’ve ever witness at this point of the offseason we usually have seen more and we haven’t seen anything yet besides some minor trades and people moving guys around for the 40 man roster. It’s crazy to me. Am I the only one who thinks this? What’s the hold up? I know guys like to explore all options but still seems like by now we would’ve seen some sort of trade or signing.

Jeez calm down bud its still early. Some kf these wild trade deadlines and offseason last few years have everyone spoiled now
BlueSkyLA
Not a lot happens before the winter meetings and sometimes not for awhile after. Can’t prove it but seems like teams are holding off longer and longer on those big trades and signings.
Thronson5
I do know we have most of our action at the winter meetings and shortly after they really start pouring on but since I’ve been a fan of baseball for the last 30 years and really started getting way more into it the last 20 years I’ve still not recalled the start of a offseason this dead. By this time last year we had quite a few trades if I’m not mistaken. Just seems odd that we haven’t seen really anything at all. Not expecting a bunch of moves or any bit moves just surprised we haven’t seen anything at all, that’s all I’m saying.

It’s November – relax.
Thronson5
Lol I get a calm down and a relax. Kick rocks if you have a problem with what I’m saying. I’m not having a full blown meltdown over it and freaking out. Am I? Saying this is a boring offseason so far and it is, stating the facts here that it’s been dead compared to previous offseasons and it has been. Go look at the moves made last season to to this date and tell me I’m wrong. I’m not freaking out so don’t need to calm down or relax I’m just wondering why it seems so be so boring compared to the past.
Cam
I’d believe you if it weren’t for the paragraphs of denial.
It’s okay, breathe. It doesn’t need an essay.
LA Sam
Thronson….thinkin you might be more of a soccer guy, huh….also boring and long winded….?

LA Sam, you
aren’t.funny.

You mentioned “I’m not freaking out,” several times. This is indicative of someone “freaking out.”
fox471 Dave
Now I mentioned it twice. Are we all “freaking out?” Is it contagious?
SundownDevil
I tweeted @realDonaldTrump for you:
“Yo Trump, Thronson5 on #MLBTR forums upset w/lack of MLB offseason activity so far. Plz pass law or exec order to make teams start trades/signings. Threaten to deport if no?”
He hasn’t responded yet but I’ll keep you posted.

Dude, nothing starts until the gm meeting takes places
This is all roster space and trash cleaning times

Honestly I like minor moves like this just as much — if not more — than bigger moves. Waiver claims and things like that are actually really cool to me
Phillies2017
Both parties are right here:
Yes, most of the good stuff doesn’t get moving until the Winter Meetings, however, there is typically more activity in November.
Pre-11/20 moves and signings in recent years
’16: Heisey, Butera, Kendrys Morales, Bartolo, Dickey, Morton, Gourriel, Andrew Bailey, The Valencia trade, the Howie Trade, the McCann trade, the Maybin Trade

Yeah, just joking about that one.

The Stanton (and who knows which other Marlins) drama has slowed things down a bit, and the Braves issues don’t he!p. Give it time….Jerry D.’s phone is recharged now…….
inkstainedscribe
Not a great FA starting pitcher group out there, so until the Stanton trade happens, it will be quiet, other than minor stuff. No big surprise there.
chris tell
I do not believe there is owner collusion going on like it was brought up last offseason when things were slow also. I do think teams are holding their organizations to their vest and the 40 man roster maneuverings is being made in preps for the rule 5 draft in trying to protect as much of their prospects as possible. I think after wards, is when free agent signings and trades will occur. When that is going on , some of players will move off of the forty man roster and maybe, hopefully those players will slip through waivers and be outrighted. Just a thought.
boomstickdanny
Seattle has been busy so far lol
Altanta Barves
Oh wow, this is a big deal for the Braves. They’re going to only lose 90 games in 2018!
