Here are the day’s minor moves:
- Righty Rob Wooten tweets that he has agreed to a new deal with the Reds for the 2018 season. Presumably, it’s a minor-league deal. The 32-year-old had joined Cincinnati on a minors pact for the 2017 season, but only made six Triple-A appearances before going down with injury. Despite previously working almost exclusively from the bullpen, Wooten was starting before he was hurt. He racked up an impressive 26:5 K/BB ratio in 23 1/3 frames, but also allowed 18 earned runs on 34 hits. Wooten will attempt to work back to the majors for the first time since 2015; he has compiled 68 total frames of 5.03 ERA pitching at the game’s highest level, spread over three seasons.

Odd moment… Saw the name, and it sounded familiar. Realized I went to middle school/high school and church with this guy. I moved away part-way through high school, but never knew he was ever drafted, much less made it this far. Way to go, Rob!

Didn’t Wooten actually pitch suprisingly really good for the Braves AAA affiliate, Gwinnett, in 2016??
If my memory serves me correct, he actually had quite a solid season for the Braves in 2016…I was wondering where he went afterwards, but it is at least good to see he’s getting another shot in Cincy. Hopefully, he can make the most of it, and get back to the big leagues at some point come 2018.

I just wish there were a link where we could verify info like this.

Maybe they should highlight his name in the post, so that you could click on it and get all his stats. That site could have the stats of all major leaguers. It would be awesome. I think VWB and I are on to something here. What could we call a reference to baseball stats?

Signing Rob Wooten is about as exciting as signing Joe Shlabotnik.
