Here are Thursday’s minor moves from around the game…
- The Yankees announced that outfielder Mason Williams has cleared waivers and been outrighted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Williams, 25, has seen brief MLB action in each of the past three seasons. But he was struggling badly on the year at Triple-A, posting a .252/.298/.296 batting line over 251 plate appearances.
- Outfielder Michael Reed has been outrighted off the Brewers’ 40-man roster to Double-A, per a club announcement. Milwaukee did not announce a corresponding roster move. The 24-year-old Reed has played in 15 major league ballgames since the start of the 2015 season, but now loses his 40-man spot. While the NL Central-leading Brewers haven’t yet filled it, they’ll be hunting for additions at the deadline and are already loaded with other young outfielders. Reed will remain at Biloxi, where he owns a .209/.347/.356 slash in 199 trips to the plate.

Glad Mason is still with the Yanks. He definitely deserves another chance far more then Refsnyder!

Refsynder plays 1B, 2B, and corner outfield. There’s a reason he’s still with team and Williams isn’t.
Anyway, Ref is probably back in Scranton tomorrow if Holliday is activated.

Agree. He’s been made into a quite useful utility player type now and one that can hit at the MLB level, a bonus. It would be a mistake to get rid of him, yet still see several Yankee fans here squawking about him. Some fail to see how those multi position players have become so valuable now.
thegreatcerealfamine
He may play multiple positions but you lost credibility saying he can hit ML pitching. Do you watch the games or know about a player who can play multiple positions and hit better named Ronald Torreyes.

“Mason Williams isn’t worth trading for Clayton Kershaw, he’s so much more valuable. Top 30 prospects are so much more important and better than star players.” – so many idiots in 2014.
This is why you all gotta stop hyping prospects or acting like they’re more important than guys who actually are in the bigs.
AidanVega123
I can guarantee you no one has ever said that. Quit being a jerk, buddy.

This guy does nothing but insult while failing at his Trolling!

I agree with the point you’re trying to make about prospects generally being overvalued but this example is far too extreme and I’d be willing to bet no one actually said this

“Clayton Kershaw isn’t worth trading for Brandon Webb, he’s so much more valuable. Top 30 prospects are so much more important and better that star players.”
A comment someone could have made in 2007. And it would have seemed so true and to prove your point because Webb went on to two top two Cy Youngs the next two years, and yet it would have been the dumbest comment ever.
dodgerfan711
You lost all your credibility when you named kershaw as the star. At least name someone that was actually traded in 2014 like David Price. Mason Williams wasn’t a hyped prospect either

You’re an imbecile..stop trolling Yankee articles!

Time for the Brewers to add Wei Chung to the roster and make a trade with the Yankees for Aguilera or Cooper
mikeyst13
Aguilar is too valuable to the Brewers both as a time split with Thames and off the bench. He’s been one of the top pinch hitters in the league. Plus it’s the Yankees, if they are going to make a move I see it being a little bigger than Aguilar or Cooper, who while having a nice year in the PCL has never seen an MLB pitch.

Mason Williams was hitting .250 for the Yankees this year but hit pretty well the previous two seasons……who really cares if he was struggling in triple a?
Refsnyder can play multiple positions but how valuable is it really if he cant hit? He’s literally just a body they throw out there to give rest to the starters, and he plays average at best defense at that. Cody Ransom 2.0
srechter
Cody Ransom! Wow. Haven’t heard that name it quite a while. Took me back.

Exactly what I posted up top. There’s always a fan of some other team who doesn’t watch Yankee games making inaccurate posts.
