We’ll track the day’s minor moves right here …
- Outfielder Brennan Boesch is set to retire, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times (via Twitter). Boesch, who’ll turn 32 tomorrow, spent parts of six seasons in the majors, appearing with the Tigers, Yankees, Angels, and Reds. He last cracked the bigs in 2015, but saw the bulk of his action from 2010-12 with Detroit. At his best, in his sophomore campaign, Boesch slashed .283/.341/.458 with 16 home runs. The left-handed hitter spent last year with the Red Sox organization, missing much of the season due to a broken wrist and batting just .221/.266/.345 in 158 Triple-A plate appearances upon his return.

Damn, an ex-Tiger the White Sox won’t be able to sign to a minor league contract this month. lol
Btw-Mike Pelfrey was pretty bad in his AAA debut for Charlotte on Monday evening but Ryan Raburn did hit a home run in his first contest.

Man, remember this guy’s first half back in ’11, with almost no sign of platoon splits in that small sample (well, more like hot April and June with a miserable May, but June was SOOOOO GOOD)?
Another Dom Brown…. (well, Brown kept it up most of that season, but you get my drift…)
Bob Knob
He had a nice 50 at bats in Pinstripes back in 2013.
Nothing to dislike about him…wish him well !

You guys related?
Bob Knob
Project it out over a 500 AB (est) season
Let me know what the math is …..

Sad to see Brennan retire. I hope he changes his mind.
thegreatcerealfamine
Dude you can’t expect a player with his track record to have kept that up over 500 at bats.
Bob Knob
That was his actual pace for his time in NY…
You dont have to like it…just accept the mathematical projetion.
halos101
that’s not how baseball works bob.
Bob Knob
That is how mathematical/statistical projections do work.
thegreatcerealfamine
That’s just beyond nuts and this is coming from a Yankee fan..good day sir!
Bob Knob
Its simple math…
You can find it on the internet.

Yeah it’s a correct projection. But it’s a projection. If someone hits 1 for 1 would you consider it realistic for them to bat 1.000 on the year based on that projection? 50 AB’s is way to small a sample size to project for a whole season and expect it to remain close to the same. Especially considering his trac record. It’s simple logic. You can’t find that on the internet.

While I don’t necessary agree he would’ve kept going at the same pace, had he got 500 bats, I’m a Yankee fan and I loved his time on the Yankees. wish he got more PT. hope he un retires someday.

This guy just needs to get some sun!
