The most recent edition of the MLBTR Mailbag saw Jeff Todd answer questions on Clay Buchholz’s option, the Giants’ bullpen, Brian Dozier’s trade value and Mark Melancon’s free agent stock in an open market that’ll also feature premier closers Aroldis Chapman and Kenley Jansen.
If you have a question on the upcoming offseason, free agency, the playoffs, our arbitration projections from earlier this morning or anything else and would like to hear MLBTR’s take, let us know: mlbtrmailbag@gmail.com. We can’t get to every question, of course, but we’ll try to diversify the teams/subject matter as best we can. If you miss out on having your question answered, remember that you can always ask during one of our three weekly live chats — Tuesday at 2pm CT with myself, Wednesday at 6:30pm with Jason Martinez and/or Thursday at 2pm with Jeff. Mailbag questions are welcome throughout the week, so feel free to send them in at any time.

Can you name some trade and FA scenarios for the Braves? Potential targets, and what they’ll trade away?

How good of a CF/corner IF can cards get via trade or free agent? In other words what value does there tradable pieces/prospects have?

Cardinals wont trade prospects since they are going to likely punished for hacking! Cardinals can sign Cespedes, Desmond or Fowler for CF. Don’t see the Cardinals adding any corner infielder unless they trade Adams or Peralta but I don’t see Peralta being traded. We can all dream that the Cardinals get a big star or 2 in free agency and or trades. Right?

Any idea what the Yankees intend to do with Billy butler. I’d love to have his bat in the middle of that line up(dh/1b), just not sure there’s any room for him.

Butler will be lucky to ever wear a major league uniform again.

Guy is a .290 career hitter. He hit .284 this year. He had one down year in Oakland, a team that plays in a very unfriendly stadium to hitters. Why would he be lucky to wear another MLB uniform again?
