In response to one of the questions brought up in the chat: What over riding reason would the Braves seek Travis Shaw if they have to give up near ready pitching? Shaw at this point certainly isn’t entrenched as a likely great contributor. I’ve seen several people think that Shaw might not be much more than a slightly stronger version of a left handed hitting Wil Middlebrooks.
If the Braves were just looking for a low tier left handed complement to Adonis Garcia then they would probably just go with Rio Ruiz who is already on their roster. While I’m not sold on Garcia I just don’t see the Braves spending resources on Shaw.

note on that last giants question for people not in the know – the entirety of experience (minus the added smith) in the bullpen is going to disappear at the end of the season, contracts end for romo, casilla, lopez (who I can see retiring) leaving only the youngsters (osich, gearrin, strickland) in the pen and any leftover starters (cain?) so you can imagine that any FA reliever is going to be a target
