The Dodgers have acquired minor league righty Alec Grosser from the Braves, Los Angeles announced on Twitter. He becomes the player to be named later in the deal that sent Bud Norris out west.
Grosser serves to balance out the young talent changing hands in the swap. Outfielder Dian Toscano and cash also went to the Dodgers in the arrangement, with minor league pitchers Caleb Dirks and Phil Pfeifer constituting Atlanta’s side of the bargain.
The 21-year-old Grosser was an 11th-round selection in the 2013 draft. He had shown some promise early in his professional career at the Rookie ball level, but failed to master the Class A level last year. That led to a return to the Appalachian League this season, where Grosser has experienced pretty ugly results in a tiny sample.

From what I’ve read about Grosser on talking chop, Hes athletic, best pitches are fastball and slider, has deception hides the ball has a strange arm slot, has trouble repeating delivery, and overall weird mechanics.

Thanks for that! Curious now about finding a video of him.

Dodgers got a decent prospect in Grosser. Has back end of the rotation potential, but probably ends up in the pen. Inconsistency as been his downfall, mainly with his mechanics. But if he gets that smoothed out, his stuff should play

Why doe ATL send young talent back to LA? Did it last year with Peraza. Are the pitchers they acquired good enough to warrant that
olereb
With the shortage of pitching looks like we traded Bud too soon

I would like someone to explain this trade to me, why were we so desperate to get rid of Bud Norris
Gogerty
Think it was simply the matter of not competing and Bud’s stock was high as could be. Pitchers we got seem to have upside, but it is far too early to tell. I think we still traded too early.

We traded him when his stock was higj, he wasn’t going to pitch like that all season and we need to let younger guys get mound time

OMG guys.. this is a great trade for the Braves… we dumped salary with Norris and Dian.. plus sent garbage in Alec back over there.. Even if Dirk and Pfiefer don’t pan out, this is a good trade. But Dirk and Pfiefer will be fine.. Bud is just an average pitcher hiding behind recent success. We just replaced Norris with Harrell. Trust me the sky is not falling.

Who cares who we put on the mound it’s not like we will win the division and we are trading off all these veteran one year contract guys it’s not like we are trading controllable talent.
