Here are the day’s minor moves from around the league…
- Infielder Danny Muno asked for his release from the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate and had his request granted, tweets SB Nation’s Chris Cotillo. The 27-year-old made his big league debut with New York last season and hit .148/.258/.185 in a tiny sample of 32 plate appearances. The versatile Muno, who has played mostly second in his minor league career but has quite a bit of experience at shortstop and third base as well, has enjoyed more success in the minors. He’s a career .267/.371/.387 hitter in parts of three seasons at Triple-A and has an overall .795 OPS in parts of six minor league seasons. With Muno seemingly unable to crack the big league roster in spite of injuries throughout the Mets’ infield, perhaps his camp simply felt the best move for his future was to explore other opportunities.

Danny was still on the Mets? Who knew!
Hope he gets a shot with another MLB club!

The chances of the Sox remaining in the race depends on them getting a guy like Jose Fernandez or Sonny Gray or a top pitcher under control. If I’m DD I would trade for Cosart with a very modest number of prospects.
I would then, to Sox fans and I am one, this is heretical–I would trade Xander to Miami for Jose Fernandez.
Xander is a player beyond his years that would team-up well with Stanton. He’s a great community person–the next Jeter–probably better than Jete.
Unless the Sox feel they can sign Xander, Betts and JBJ–I say go for the best guy you can get and use a ML Chip. Cosart can play SS this year and Dubon will be ready next year.

I doubt anything like this happens… Yes it makes some sense from the redsox side, but not the Marlins. The Marlins like Hechavaria at SS, and are actually in contention this year… If they stay that way to the deadline, they aren’t going to move the only pitcher they have that is any good… They’re going to look to acquire another one.
