Is Steve Adams actively sending Johnny Giavotella hate mail at this point? Those of us who watch the Angels play know that Johnny G. will provide an offensive spark while providing capable (though not great) defense.. The real problem is the LF hole, despite what Steve says.
(And at that, the Angels are better in LF than they were last year.)

The beauty of baseball is that we’ll get to see the results on the field. But I’ll take Steve’s side if we’re making bets — he is nearly 29 and owns a .255/.299/.355 career slash in nearly 1k MLB PAs. And metrics really don’t like his glove.

Why is MLBTR pushing Gyorko as the backup SS for the Cardinals? That was never the case.

On the Giants question, I think they felt that Pagan can’t play a decent CF anymore and they needed someone who can. There’s no one in the upper farm system who can either, thus the signing of Span. They’ll see how Mac and Parker do this year to determine if either can replace Pagan next year when his contract is up. Despite Parker’s big September splash, I think Mac will be the better player long term.

That’s exactly why they signed Span. He was never the plan for left. Hopefully Williamson forces the issue and relegates Pagan to the bench, but Bochy loves his veterans so that probably won’t happen this year.
