The Orioles have claimed infielder/outfielder Joey Terdoslavich off waivers from the Braves, according to a team announcement. Terdoslavich lost his roster spot to make way for the signing of Kelly Johnson, which Atlanta announced today.
The 27-year-old Terdoslavich had previously spent his entire career in the Braves organization. He’s only taken 162 trips to the plate in the majors over the past three seasons.
While he’s yet to get much of a chance in the majors, Terdoslavich owns a reasonably useful .264/.337/.423 batting line in over 1,300 plate appearances at Triple-A. Of course, it’s been some time since he received a look at third base, and that slash isn’t all that impressive for a player who is limited to first base and corner outfield duties.

Joey T we hardly knew ye.
But seriously, why did the Braves never give this guy a regular chance?

He couldn’t play defense worth a crap at any position other than first, at one time he was thought to be chippers replacement but his defense was terrible made like 23 errors through 60 games playing at aaa, oh well rather have kelly anyways

@ R.D. The guy never got a chance. I do agree.

I remember when he was supposed to be Chipper’s replacement. But he could not hit in majors much more than he could play defense. Plus had too many young guys to give them all 300 ABs in a season if they did not hit for average early.

I agree wil, I would rather have Kelly also, just wished Joey T would have got a chance. It just seems like he never got any regular playing time. He will probaly go to Baltimore now and play a little first, dh, and a little of and hit 20 homers and have 80 rbi
NL_East_Rivalry
Even in a season if he hits 20 HR’s I doubt he will get 80 RBI’s in either of the next couple of years
VanillaGorilla
I’ll miss him if only for the terdo nickname.

I remember this dude hitting 50 doubles for single-A Lynchburg, my hometown. I thought he’d turn that into more; never did.

Wow. The Orioles got their outfielder, just like they did with the great Travis Snider last year. How sad to be an O’s fan and watch their strong core of talent slip away. When Davis signs elsewhere, that’s two 40 home run hitters leave for free agency in two years.

This is purely a depth move, not a move that signals Davis/Upton/Cespedes isn’t going to be signed. Odds are he gets DFA when they bring in another guy.
bravesfan357
He’s not anything special. As a braves, Ive never believed in him. Maybe he can turn into a good pinch hitter. He’ll never be an everyday player, but he does have some value as far a depth piece on a contender. Orioles shoulda signed Kelly imo.

A little bit of trivia… Terdoslavich is Mike Greenwell’s nephew.
