This is the first time in a while where the guys at Inside the Zona are utterly wrong.
No way a trade headlined by Yasmany Tomas (who had a negative WAR this season) lands Sonny Gray. Drury is good but the rest are filler, quantity pieces. Plus, Valencia has a very good year and Lawrie, although inconsistent, was decent as well, so saying they didn’t light the world on fire is a bit harsh because who knows if Drury would be much of an upgrade to them. Beans would laugh at that offer too be honest.
And the Pollock extension they suggested. He’d laugh at that too, $5.5 million after the year he had. He will prob get more than that in arb and after getting such a lowball offer could prime himself for free agency where if he keeps his production up will land a huge contract. Remember, we are living in an age where performance pays, JA Happ just got 10 million a year for his less than half year performance in Pittsburgh. Thinking Pollock would accept 5.5 million a year is insane

Pollock is in his first year of arb and doesn’t have a really strong background in arb numbers. 2/11M is probably what hes going to be looking at. Josh Donaldson got 4.3M after back-to-back 24+ HR, 90+ RBI seasons. Pollock at 2/11M for his first 2 arb years seems about right.

You can’t compare (arbitration-eligible) players like Pollock and (free agent) players like Happ. Pollock is looking at 4.3MM or so his first time through arbitration this year, so two years, 11MM is actually quite reasonable.

How is CarGo a fit in Pittsburgh of all places? They have the best young OF core in the majors. The last thing they need is an expensive OF-er.

I agree with what you are saying. I also do not agree in putting Polanco as a 4th outfielder. No reason to, as Polanco can still have time to develop and putting him at the 4th OF will only slow it down.
Also the offer of the trade does not seem to be enough for the Rockies to say yes. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rockies ask for Tyler Glasnow, Barrett Barnes, Michael Morse, and one ofStephen Tarpley or Mitch Keller for CarGo and a reliever.

I want the stuff that inside the zona is smoking.
Yasmany Tomas basically just him and fodder for Sonny gray? Who was a decent CY young candidate for a bit of the year. What are you on. As the guy above said Tomas had a negative WAR I wouldn’t trade my ace for a negative war Tomas when at 3B I got Danny Valencia, and “not setting the world on fire”? You kidding me? Valencia had a spectacular second half considering how the year started for him, Brett lawrie was kind of a bust TBH in the Donaldson trade but let’s be honest he’s not that bad, I say ship him and you got Bret Lowrie at second no need to get Drury. God and flipping a 11 million contract extension for Pollock. If I was pollock and I got that offer after the year I had I would tell them to kiss my you know what and just get a WAY bigger contract in free agency. 5.5 mill a year. Jesus Christ.

That Gray proposal is just insane. Agreed.
You’d have to start with 2 of Blair, Shipley, Swanson and Bradley if you want to go near Gray, and that would just be a start.
As for Pollock, 2/11M seems very reasonable considering its for his first 2 arb years. If he doesn’t have a repeat kind of year, he might not top that in arb.
MLBTR has him at 4.3M for this year, meaning if he gets 6.7M next year, thats just about what it would be, which seems very possible.
DMC23
If Gray was made available the A’s could get a WAY better deal than that proposed Arizona deal. The Red Sox would certainly would blow that away and they wouldn’t be the only team.

Why would Braves trade two good, young pitchers and sign two worse pitchers? I want some of what when did slid is smoking.
Brixton
Because Miller was mediocre in the 2nd half last year, and Nomar Mazara was a guy the Rangers wouldn’t part with for Cole Hamels. I’d make that trade if I was the Braves.
I wouldn’t sell low on Teheran though.
bravesred 2
I promise you that the Braves would want more.

Likely. Then they will hold onto him and sell him for 1/2 the price in a year.

Even if Maybin is going to play in Raja’s former role, as a possible platoon mate of Gose, and occasional LF, his acquisition is not a good fit for the Tigers, as I doubt he would be happy in that role. Regardless of his ability to cover the vast OF in Comerica, he will not produce the offensive numbers needed for LF. I like Collins as a bench piece, but even as part of a platoon, I am leery of the results. I understand the need to concentrate on pitching, but a solid LH bat in LF would be welcome. Denard Span would be a wonderful addition, but it is unknown what he would require. He would also give the Tigers a legitimate leadoff hitter, something they haven’t had for a while..
TheMichigan
Honestly since LF in comerica is another Center Field I think he will do fine as a LF and a lead off guy
