The Astros have designated outfielder L.J. Hoes for assignment, the club announced. In the team’s second round of 40-man additions today, it has added outfielder Andrew Aplin and infielder Nolan Fontana to fill up its major league roster.
Hoes, 25, saw minimal time at the major league level last season after getting some opportunities in the prior two campaigns. All told, he owns a .237/.289/.328 batting line over 337 MLB plate appearances. Hoes has, however, shown some speed and on-base ability at the Triple-A level.

I’m sure someone picks up Hoes. In fact organizations may fight over the chance to have Hoes with them. Hoes could still come around.

We now have Rex Brothers and L.J. Hoes available. Hoes may be a good pickup, but if I’m a team with an open roster spot, I’m going Bros before Hoes on this one.

Some rich guy will give Hoes lots of money to play with him.

Doubtful. Keep in mind that these teams are run by businessman. I doubt they have time to mess around with Hoes.

Either way I’d take any player on the Houston roster before L.J.

I can’t understand why they were not traded before. Houston’s farm system is quite deep in OF, reason why in my opinion Hoes didn’t get much chance. Sure other teams could use him as a 4th OF

Bros before hoes. Why? Because your bros are always there for you. They have got your back, after your hoe rips your heart out for no good reason. And you were nothing but great to your hoe. And you told her she was the only hoe for you. And that she was better than all the other hoes in the world. And then… suddenly she’s not your hoe no mo’. – Michael Scott
