Top Rangers prospect Joey Gallo has left the Legacy Agency for Wasserman Media Group, MLBTR’s Tim Dierkes tweets. Wasserman currently represents big-name clients like Yasiel Puig, Giancarlo Stanton, Hanley Ramirez, Chase Utley and Javier Baez. Still, Gallo’s move is a big one for his new agency — MLB.com currently ranks the third baseman the No. 6 prospect in baseball.
Gallo has raced through the minors since being drafted in the first round in 2012, hitting 40 homers between Class A+ Myrtle Beach and Double-A Frisco as a 20-year-old in 2014, with an overall line of .271/.394/.615. He does have weaknesses — those 40 home runs came with 179 strikeouts, suggesting that it might be difficult for him to harness his power in the Majors. Still, his raw power is hard to top.

Not that optimistic on Gallo, too much swing and miss in his game.

Adam Dunn 2.0?

Strikeouts are only marginally worse than any other type of out and then only in certain types of situations.
Guys who hit bagfuls of homers and get on base at a massive clip giving their team mates masses of chances to drive them in.
Who needs them eh?…
Stonehands
There is no doubting his power ability and the need for it around the game, but when a player strikes out at nearly a 40% rate against AA pitching, how do you think that will translate to the majors?
UK Tiger
Who knows, but if he’s still hitting homers and getting on base at the same rate he is now, it matters not a jot.

How high can an OBP get if you strike out 50% of your plate appearances?

How high can OBP get if you ground out in 50% of your plate appearances?
An out is an out is an out, unless runners are on base.
Hes OBP’ed .377 and OPS’ed over .1000 in the minors, you dont try and take this guys strength away, which is hitting the ball a long way by starting to mess with his swing etc.
As i said, he hits loads of bombs (the most valuable outcome of any single at bat) and gets on base at a great clip…strikeouts dont bother me when a player is doing this.

He fixed that issue at the A level and then struggled with it again once he moved to AA. Be interesting to see if he can correct the stikeouts again. It does take some guys half a year to acclimate to the bump up in competition. Everybody bashes prospects now for not being immediately good right away with every promotion. Some guys just take time.
Stonehands
I completely understand that, but pitching only gets better as you move up, and he still struck out over 25% of the time when he fixed it against low level competition…I am high on the guy, but he could be Mark Reynolds with more power or he could be Stanton
