On this date in 2011, Rays skipper Joe Maddon won the American League Manager of the Year Award for the second time after leading Tampa Bay to a 91-71 record. For years, Maddon helped the Rays defy the odds, and now he’ll try to help the Cubs snap the Curse of the Billy Goat. Here’s this week’s look around the baseball blogosphere..

I think the O’s would be selling really low on Wieters

It would be silly. Camden Depot seemed to suggest that Caleb Joseph would be an answer. That’s not good, I mean Caleb started off strong when he got a chance and quite frankly a nice surprise for a little while, but he not only came back down to earth, he was kind of dreadful at the end of the season. He had a nasty case of the dropsies. Orioles can’t have that if they want to be a championship club. I would keep Wieters till the end of his contract.

I would trade Wieters and roll with Joseph if the return was there, but it won’t be. At this point the QO pick will have more value than what they could trade Wieters for.

Its a shame that some article are already outdated. The rays including Helickson in a trade to the braves will not happen and 2 of the D’backs prospects listed are now playing for the Rays organization. They are all pretty nice blogs though!

That article somehow makes the Rangers injuries look even worse than it was during the season. That’s the worst luck I’ve ever seen any team have in any sport. We had starters, backups, and backups of backups all going down for large chunks of the season. A lot of those done for the entire season. Just baffling.
