Here are today’s minor moves from around the league.
- Freddy Garcia has completed his deal with the EDA Rhinos in Taiwan, MLB Daily Dish’s Chris Cotillo tweets. Garcia pitched for the Orioles and Braves in 2013, but the Braves released him from a minor-league deal in late March.
- The Yankees have announced that they’ve released pitcher Nik Turley. Turley, 24, posted a 3.88 ERA with 8.9 K/9 and 4.7 BB/9 in 139 innings for Double-A Trenton in 2013. He experienced arm tightness in spring training and has not pitched this season, but if healthy, one would think that a left-hander with his strikeout rate and ability to start could get a look from another organization.

I wish they would have kept him.

Bit surprising, they seemed like they were really hanging onto him. They carried him all year on the 40-man, after he was rule 5 eligible. His injury must be something really. Being a left I would have thought he could easily end up as a bullpen arm for them this year.
Joe Valenti
Exactly my thought. I was shocked that they left Kahnle and Burawa unprotected this year. This injury must be really serious, given that they valued Turley over Kahnle and let him go

With Campos out they can’t waste to 40 spots. They probably want him back the same way they wanted and got adams back.
Joe Valenti
Wow, I worked for the Thunder last year and I really liked Nik. I’m sure another team will give him a shot

So much for those comparisons to Andy Pettitte.

Hey Jocketty, snatch Turley up and let him heal. Major upside with low risk.
Joe Orsatti
he’ll be signed in a few days, Just plop him on the 60-Day DL and let him rest up until about July, then see how he does and cal him up later
