I would be very surprised if the Rays deal Price now, with Hellickson injured. I doubt it will happen unless the DBacks completely overpay for him.
Rook
By over pay, you mean Archie Bradley I’m sure. I don’t see that happening. It doesn’t make sense for the Dbacks.
I also don’t think the Rays should trade Price till next years trade deadline. Or at the earliest, next off season.
A desperate team will probably pay almost the same amount for him no matter when the Rays decide to move him.
Timothy Bryce
You do realize David Price is a free agent at the end of this season?
Rook
His last year of arbitration is 2015. He’s a free agent in 2016 I believe.

He’s not!

Great article at Hidden Vigorish. Hopefully AJ returns to Pittsburgh.
Nathan Boley
They always do a great job. Them and Sawchik are the best Pirates writers I know of.

Camden depot article is very informative, though I imagine the group of Orioles fans that protest against lack of free agent spending won’t like it.
On another note, I think the O’s should pursue Oliver Perez. They could use another lefty specialist in the bullpen, especially with Patton’s suspension and their desire to eventually be able to give Matusz another shot in the rotation.
Andrew Ochs
Its a great article, I do not like the lack of spending, but if they are going this route then Davis, Hardy, Wieters should all be traded now. Which the O’s won’t do.

Or sign them long term, which apparently they might try to do.
Andrew Ochs
The chances of keeping everyone intact is slim. Keeping them would be great, but that involves spending money in which the payroll will have to greatly go above 100million.
Lookouts400
Well, the word is they want to get Hardy done before this season starts, Duquette said he extended an offer to Davis and they’ve had talks with Wieters. With Markakis coming off the books after this season, if he doesn’t re-sign, that’s 11 million. If they’re going to spend that money, I’d rather it be on those guys than a second or third tier pitcher who might not be better than what we have.

It will be nice to have pineda back, but he’ll still have an innings limit, as will banuellos. I really think the yankees need to add a veteran starter. Johan, or capuaono could work.

AJ Burnett is on the market…
jjs91
Doubt he’d come back, though I wouldn’t be against it. But I kind of want a guy that could slide in the pen, which i doubt he’d want to do.
DMiles5149
No way they bring back Burnett. Girardi didn’t trust him. Him and Yankees fans seem to forget his Game 2 start in the 2009 WS which single-handedly kept them in the Series. But anyway, no chance they bring him back.
NickinIthaca
I was being facetious, but it’s true – Yankees fans tend to forget the good much quicker than the bad…
Since_77
If he is healthy, I could see Pineda as the #5 starter behind Sabathia, Kuroda, Tanaka & Nova. That’s not asking a lot maybe 20 plus starts.
Rook
As a Dbacks fan, I’m pretty excited that Jason Parks thinks highly enough of Jose Martinez to compare him to Yordano Ventura. I like Ventura’s upside a lot even though he’s not a big guy.
Earlier in the off season, I had thought about an Owings for Ventura deal because it looked like the Royals might want a MI upgrade. I think they signed Infante though.

Pirates sign AJ, trade some pitching depth for Smoak? Would be solid platoon partner for Sanchez

Markakis is actually at $15 million this year though there is a $2 million buyout for next year where he is set to make $17.5 million.
Lookouts400
I stand corrected. But that’s even more money coming off the books after this season. Unless he has a monster rebound season, does anyone see him resigning with the Orioles for that kind of money?
mehs
I agree. I see zero chance of him getting that kind of money or getting that option picked up. I could see him getting $10-12 million a year if he has a bounce back year.
