Free agent outfielder Sam Fuld is currently weighing offers from five different clubs, a source told MLBTR's Zach Links. Each offer is a minor league deal with an invitation to Spring Training. While some teams have been ruled out, a return to the Rays hasn't been ruled out. Fuld is trying to decide which team will present him with the best opportunity to win a roster spot this spring.
Fuld, who turned 32 in November, batted .199/.270/.267 with a pair of homers and eight stolen bases in 200 plate appearances with the Rays in 2013. Originally acquired from the Cubs in the Matt Garza trade, Fuld has consistently put up strong defensive marks in the corner outfield spots and is also capable of playing center field.

Hope he comes back to the Rays. If nothing else, when he retires, come back as like a coach or something.

Welcome to Philadelphia Sam if for no other reason than to get rid of John Mayberry Jr.! Instant fan favorite.

I have a feeling that JMJ will have a better year this year. Now, before you press the dislike button, hear me out. Go back to May June, Dom Brown, Benny Revere and JMJ were in the OF most days. When all 3 were in the lineup, they all produced better. Check the stats. In May and June, all 3 were hitting 280 or above. Ben goes down and production from not just JMJ, but dom brown starts to slide a bit. I also believe that since we have solidified Byrd in right, and we can use Mayberry strictly off the bench, he won’t see as many rightees and with a boost in production cones a boost of confidence. All in all, I predict JMJ will finish the year with a 268/325/439 line along with 14 long balls, 67 RBIs and 9 stolen bases in 12 attempts.

My spider sense is telling me the Yankees are in on this.

Lol, I was thinking that we could use another outfielder.

Wouldn’t mind seeing the Cubs offer him a deal and an invitation to Spring Training.
Dbacksfan44
I think the Cubs and/or the Mets offered him a deal

Best of luck to Sam with whatever team picks him up. Hopefully, it won’t be the Rays though. Sam’s inspirational in many ways and can be fun to watch in the field. But he’s painful to watch at the plate and that roster spot is needed elsewhere. Good luck, Super Sam.

This 100%. Good luck Super Sam!

Sam is a quality teammate and has made a number of key contributions with his defense. However, last year the Rays paid him 725K. Unfortunately his wrist injury could not have been at a worst time. If he was ready to come on strong it was then.
The Rays can fill that roster spot with a younger player that offers a better potential upside. I wish Sam the best and hopefully we may see him again in a coaching role. He is a person of excellent character, a great team mate and very smart. We wish you success Sam and thank you for your contribution.
