2:57pm: Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports reports (on Twitter) that the Red Sox have reached out to Hiroki Kuroda as well. The veteran right-hander is open to signing a one-year deal.
2:17pm: The Red Sox have interest in Anibal Sanchez, reports Michael Silverman of The Boston Herald. The team is also exploring trades for starting pitchers.
GM Ben Cherington was overseeing Boston's international scouting department when the team originally signed Sanchez out of Venezuela in 2001. The 28-year-old right-hander pitched to a 3.86 ERA with 7.7 K/9 and 2.2 BB in 195 2/3 innings split between the Marlins and Tigers this year. Several other clubs have expressed interest in Sanchez as well, according to Silverman.
MLBTR's Tim Dierkes ranked Sanchez as the second best free agent pitcher (behind Zack Greinke) and fourth best free agent overall in his Top 50 Free Agents list.
Here we go again.
Bring him and Masterson back home.
Consider me shocked
Done.
Hmmm i guess this works
Why don’t you just make a list of all they players the Red Sox are “interested in” and call it good instead of writing a different article for each player?
it would be easier and list the players “they’re not interested in”……same with the Dodgers.
“The Red Sox are not interested in Yuniesky Betancourt.” I’m pretty sure that’d be it.
Nah, they still need a shortstop. And he is breathing so that makes him a candidate……
Interest in Anibal Sanchez and Justin Masterson, and loose rumors about Kevin Youkilis. Homecoming in Boston.
It’s funny isn’t it? Clean house, bring all the guys you traded away back home. Would be an interesting story line

I really don’t why this site is called Red Sox Trade Rumors because everyday there are articles like this and it’s kind of annoying.
How is it MLBTR’s fault that there’s new Red Sox news every day? If reporters in San Diego cared about the Padres, there’d be news posts about them, too. Unfortunately, their reporters don’t seem to cover the Padres very often.
I don’t read the San Diego newspapers so I can’t verify what you’ve said about them, but I do read the LA papers and they run a lot of stuff about the local teams that doesn’t get noticed here. The tilt was worse before the Dodgers became too big to ignore but it seems to be there still. Every so often I beg MLBTR to get somebody on this beat. Still not sure they if have any writers west of the Rockies (literally).
You aren’t imagining anything. Even small news for the big-market teams gets played here, and it isn’t because they are more newsworthy than any other team.
Later headlines: “Red Sox interested in ……..(name a player)”.
Still to come: Eddie Kasko, Andy Pafko, Cy Young, Tris Speaker, Prince Fielder’s unborn son….
I’ll take Cy Young!
I heard rumors of Craig Counsell too
Or Prince Fielder’s actual son

Red Sox Interested In That Guy Who Plays Drums On The Paint Buckets on the Brookline Ave Bridge
Yes! We need more consistent guys like that around the clubhouse.
He shows up and gives 100% every game. Plus I feel like he could really help the bullpen band make a comeback…
i love that guy,,,
he was my leading managerial candidate
YES! That’s what I’m talking about.
Hitting coach perhaps? Although they did want to hire two…….
Sanchez should be a priority. Good fit and less health questions than Haren.
johnsilver will be a very happy man after reading this.
Yep. That’s his guy.
We can just assume they’re interested in every player worth having…
Please Kuroda NO!
I am just hoping against hope that I see the following: “Red Sox reach out to Dodgers on Juan Uribe”.
I don’t think the Dodgers have enough bags of bats to move Uribe.
At least Boston is expressing interest this time around. Cherington realizes he did an extremely poor job getting this team pitching help last year.
I think that Sanchez would be the smartest addition to the rotation Ben can make unless they can swing a trade for a legit #2 or Ace like Josh Johnson. I much prefer Sanchez to Haren, Jackson, Kuroda, Liriano, etc. even if one of those guys could be gotten on a 1 year deal. I’d LOVE to have Masterson back but I have to imagine that the asking price will be deemed too much and also Tito will probably be pushing for him to stay put.
I’ve always advocated getting Kuroda. This would be a good get imo.
Don’t think Kuroda will go to boston. He wants to compete in playoffs., and while they do have a chance they still are a longshot for postseason play next year.
No offense to any baseball executives or sportswriters reading this, but you have to be stupid not to be interested in Kuroda and Sanchez.
