Earlier today we learned that Pirates owner Bob Nutting will not make any changes to the team's front office following the revelations of their military-style prospect training program. Here's the latest from Pittsburgh's division, the NL Central…
- Brewers GM Doug Melvin recently spoke to Zack Greinke, but said the free agent right-hander "didn't tip hand" according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com (Twitter). The two just talked baseball.
- Money is an issue for the Brewers, reports Heyman (on Twitter). Melvin called his team a "very" long shot for Josh Hamilton, saying he'd need the market and bench coach/former Rangers coach Jerry Narron to do some selling.
- Nutting told Michael Sanserino of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the Pirates' payroll will grow organically. He declined to give either a ceiling or floor for next season's payroll, however.

Does money growing organically mean that they expect the money to fall off of trees?

they speak in tongues , apparently. What a joke of an organization they have and continue to put out there. I think the true fans will wise up this year. I am sure they are struggling to sell season ticket packages this year.
This will probably be the worst attendance year in PNC park history. I think the fans are fed up with this guy, and will finally prove it , in 2013.
The only reason i subscribe to the extra inning package was to watch the Pirates. Now that Huntington has been given the green light to provide another year of mediocrity, i will not be a party to it.
Unreal, 2 collapses, of epic proportion, and the same leaders are given a pass for 1 more year, at least.

Go Brewers.

no it means arb number of Garret jones, jeff karstens, hammerhan all could be traded. Maybe they sign an extension with Neil Walker not much from the outside. 1 starting pitcher, 1 catcher, seems about that is all we need in FA.

I don’t know… 2 straight years of 2nd half collapses along with apparent lack of depth and no moves are being made in the front office? I mean, I know making rash moves are not smart, but something has to change somewhere… There’s clearly a problem somewhere in the organization.

Yes… the problem is the penny pinching owner we have!

Also two straight years of continuous improvement. It’s about what should be expected from a very young team. 57 wins to 79 wins in two years, and most of the top draft prospects still haven’t even made their impact in the majors yet? I don’t have a problem with that. I’m not sure what more you expect them to change.

The Pirates’ front office is not doing enough to make 2nd half runs. This is quite common in teams that can’t win.

“he’d need the market and bench coach/former Rangers coach Jerry Narron to do some selling” – by selling he literally means selling, like a bake sale or something.
