The Blue Jays have acquired Jeremy Jeffress from the Royals for cash considerations according to his agent, report Danny Knobler and Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com (Twitter links). Jeffress is represented by Double Diamond Sports Management.
Kansas City designated Jeffress for assignment late last week. They originally acquired him from the Brewers in the Zack Greinke deal, but he's spent most of the last two years in Triple-A. The 25-year-old Jeffress owns a 4.89 ERA in 38 2/3 big league innings spread out over the last three years. He owns a 5.60 ERA with 9.3 K/9 and 4.7 BB/9 in 82 career Triple-A innings.

The guy has two career victories. Kudos to the jays, future World Series champs
Kpm
Ta wins is a good way to asses talent especially since he is a reliever ! Has good stuff! And is still young
ARod's Ring
Yes because wins are a great way to judge a relievers potential.
Austin A.
Ok, I was trying to be nice and not mention his era.
tucker1980
Yeah… but according to Austin, if he can re-gain his 2010 form he’ll be a stud!!!!
suhiscrazierthanyou
more like past World Series champs…
Let_My_Cameron_Go
Good arm, still has good potential, good pickup…
tucker1980
Another power arm for the bullpen
awmusic
Low risk high reward type deal for the Jays. Even if he doesn’t work out, I still like it. Could be like the Villanueva deal for us.
Shaun Newkirk
Le’ts hold off on the high reward part. He’s no better than a #4 on his best day and 0 actual MLB success as a reliever and even less success as a starter. He’s got the fastball no doubt, but walking 8.78 batters per 9 isn’t getting it done.
Alyoyo
If you know Jeffress, there’s a high reward for sure.
Asif
He is gonna be in the Triple AAA to start the season. Pitching depth. You can never have too much pitching. AA just clearing these small deals out of the way for the Bigger ones down the road (hopefully)
Chris McCullough
It might be tough to get him to AAA since he’s out of options. If he doesn’t make the MLB squad he gets exposed to waivers.
bigkingk 2
Can’t see him staying. One more strike and a lifetime ban. What are the odds?
Otis26
He’s probably cussing because he wasn’t traded to Colorado where they’ve voted to legalize weed.
FS54 2
Wouldn’t affect MLB policy.

Canada is pretty lax on grass as well, though.

Just be careful if you’re sitting in the “In the Action” seats, you might end up with a 99 mph fastball in your tray of sushi!
Winnerwinnerchickendinner
Whoever is eating sushi at a baseball game deserves to get hit with a 99 mph fastball.
douglasb
the guy has smoke. make of that whatever you want.
Shaun Newkirk
There’s a good marijuana joke somewhere in there.
Shaun Newkirk
As a Royals fan, thank you BJ’s for not letting us have to see this guy anymore. (on our team at least)
safari_punch
Another class act added to the Jays.
deewitt92
Throws gas but that 4.7 BB/9 is pretty crazy…if the jays can make him throw strikes great pickup
Aron
Hmm wonder if he’d be open to a post game sesh?
