The Orioles announced that they have claimed Steve Pearce off of waivers from the Yankees. The first baseman/outfielder was designated for assignment by the Yanks on Tuesday.
The move marks the second time that Pearce has gone from the Yankees to the Orioles in 2012. The O's purchased the 29-year-old from New York in June and designated him for assignment in July. The Astros claimed him shortly thereafter but traded him back to the Yankees a month later.
Pearce owns a .234/.309/.369 slash line across six big league seasons with a .266/.343/.464 line against left-handers.
The Orioles plan is finally complete.
Might as well just keep him on the Orioles, Yankees and Astros rosters full time, he just keeps going around that circle this year
Just get him a nice generic jersey and hat, and he’s set to play on any team; Odd Job Steve
The circle of life.
I thought they should have kept him in the first place.
Interesting Year for Pearce.
From March 26th on:
Twins –> Yankees –> Orioles –> Astros –> Yankees –> Orioles
I wonder if that’s a record for number of team changes… (obviously not a record for number of UNIQUE teams)
I’m waiting for him to be released to be signed by the Pirates. Complete the circle of life.
Genuinely curious if he would be eligible for the playoffs. Added to the roster after 9/1, but was also on the roster before. Wonder if that’s ever happened.
He is not eligible.
“Pearce isn’t eligible for the postseason roster because he wasn’t in the organization by Aug. 31.” – Roch Kubatko
just wow
All the O’s need to do now is sign Jack Wilson, Lastings Milledge, Delwyn Young, Jason Jaramillo and Ramon Vasquez and they’ll have something special.
I like the idea
Is Adam Hyzdu available???
Joel Youngblood! Make it happen.
Hahaha, not quite. However, I would like to know is how many sets of luggage Pearce he has now. Mitch Williams was stating the other week, you get a free set each time you leave a team. As for Pearce coming back to Baltimore. I am happy.
Now he will go on to hit 10 hr in the next 4 games, just like everyone else in baltimore seems to get hot.
Nice. Welcome back, Steve!
