What’s the point of calling up another 1B? We basically have two anyway in Morneau and Mauer. Since I HIGHLY doubt anything comes of Mauer being on waivers, I wonder if Morneau is about to be dealt. It has me wondering (huge conspiracy theory here) if the Twins claimed Doubront and are now trying to deal Morneau to the BoSox and also get someone else in the deal. Morneau would be a good veteran guy to have on that infield and his contract isn’t that huge compared to what they just got rid of or Mauer’s. For the Twins, they would platoon Parmelee and Mauer at 1B and DH the rest of the season, and they get what they’ve been asking for a “MLB-ready” starting pitcher. I’m probably way wrong, so don’t hate, but this has just been an interesting day for the Twins, IMO, including the announcement slated for 4pm at Target Field…
